                                                Blue Pitta

The Blue Pitta (Hydromis cyaneus) is in the Pittidae family. It isfound in India, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Cambodia, China, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam. Its natural habitats are sub-tropical or tropical moist lowland forests and sub-tropical moist montane forests.

                                    Scaly Laughingthrush

The Scaly Laughingthrush (Trochalopteron subunicolor) is a bird species in the Leiothrichidae family. It is found in India, Bhutan, China, Myanmar, Nepal and Vietnam. Its natural habitat is sub-tropical or tropical moist montane forests.

                     Crimson Sunbird

The Crimson Sunbird (Aethopyga siparaja) is a species in the sunbird family which feeds largely on nectar, although it will also take insects, especially when feeding the young. The flight of this bird is fast and direct. It is a resident breeder in tropical Southern Asia from India to Indonesia. Two or three eggs are laid in a suspended nest in a tree. The species occurs in forests and cultivation.

                       Tawny Fish Owl

The Tawny Fish Owl (Bubo flavipes) is found in sub-tropical to temperate forests in India, Bangladesh, Bhutan, China, Laos, Myanmar, Nepal, Taiwan and Vietnam. They inhabit the Himalayan foothills from Kashmir and Garhwal East to the mountains of Laos and Vietnam and in Southern China. In areas such as Darjeeling and Nepal, they commonly live in elevations of 1,500 to 2,450 metres (4,920 to 8,040 feet). The Tawny Fish Owl is at least partially diurnal in activity, with daytime activity mainly occurring in the late afternoon and they may be seen actively hunting before nightfall especially on cloudy days. However, before the afternoon, they tend to be sluggish during the day. If disturbed or threatened, these owls tend to sit tight and not take flight. Like most owls, they usually choose inconspicuous perches during the day to avoid detection.

                       Tibetan Sandgrouse

Tibetan Sandgrouse (Syrrhaptes tibetanus) is found in the Himalayas, Central Asia, Tibet and Central China. It is about 30-41 cm long, with a pigeon-like head and neck but sturdy compact body. Currently considered monotypic, the species was first described in 1850 based on specimens obtained from the Tso-Moriri Lake area in Ladakh, India. They forage in the morning and afternoon on the undulating semi-desert plains. While foraging, their movements are fast and rapid. During the middle of the day the bird squats in a small depression in the ground, basking in the Sun. They feed on seeds, grass, buds and legumes.

                     Orange-bellied Leafbird

The Orange-bellied Leafbird (Chloropsis hardwickii) is a bird native to the Eastern Himalayas and South China to the Malay Peninsula. It is brightly coloured with an orange belly, a green back, a blue tail and flight feathers, with a blue and black patch over its throat and chest. It has a long, curved beak and it feeds on insects, spiders and nectar.Orange-bellied Leafbirds make their nests from roots and fibres which are suspended from the edges of twigs at the end of a tree branch. They are resident birds.

                 Plumbeous Water Redstart

The Plumbeous Water Redstart (Rhyacomis fuliginosa) is a species of bird in the family Muscicapidae. It is found in Afghanistan, Bhutan, China, India, Laos, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam. Their preferred habitats are streams, nullahs and rivers with boulders that are shaded, as well as, vegetation near riverbanks. They are typically found at relatively high elevations, with the ones living in the Himalayas seen between 2,000 metres (6,600 feet) and 4,100 metres (13,500 feet). However, they tend to descend to lower altitudes during the winter.

                      Whiskered Yuhina

The Whiskered Yuhina (Yuhina flavicollis) is a bird species in the white-eye family Zosteropidae. Its range extends across the Himalayan forests in Northern India to North – East Indian states, Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh and in the East to Indochina including Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam. Its natural habitat is sub-tropical or tropical moist montane forests. It is described as one of the commonest yuhinas in the Himalayas, although, it is relatively uncommon to rare at low elevations. It prefers relatively undisturbed closed canopy cover.

                               Ibisbill

The Ibisbill  (Ibidorhyncha struthersii) is a bird related to the waders, but sufficiently distinctive to merit its own family Ibidorhynchidae. It is grey with a white belly, red legs and long down-curved bill, and a black face and black breast band. It occurs on the shingle riverbanks of the high plateau of Central Asia and the Himalayas. The Ibisbill feeds by probing under rocks or gravel on stream beds. It will take a variety of terrestrial and aquatic invertebrates including caddisfly and mayfly larvae that hide under boulders in streams, grasshoppers and small fish.

                          Beautiful Sibia

The Beautiful Sibia (heterophasia pulchella) is in the Leiothrichidae family. It is found in Eastern Himalayas, China and Myanmar. Its natural habitat is sub-tropical or tropical moist montane forests. It sings a repeated loud strident “ti-ti-titi-tu-ti” descending slightly towards the end. It feeds on insects and their larvae, including beetles (Coleoptera), seeds, including those of viburnums and evergreen magnolias.

                                           Fire-tailed Myzornis

The Fire-tailed Myzornis (Myzornis pyrrhoura) is a bird species formerly placed in the Old World babbler family (Timalidae). Its genus Myzornis is monotypic and has recently been placed in the much reduced Old World warbler family Sylvidae. It is found in India, Nepal, Bhutan, China and Myanmar. Its natural habitat is sub-tropical or tropical moist montane forests.

                          Tickell’s Brown Hornbill

The Tickell’s Brown Hornbill (Anorrhinus tickell), also known as the rusty cheeked hornbill is found in forests in North-eastern India, Burma and adjacent Western Thailand. At about 60 – 65 cm (24 – 25 inches) in length, it is a medium sized hornbill, dark brown above and red-brown below. The male has brighter rufous cheeks and throat. Juveniles of both sexes resemble adult males. It inhabits evergreen and deciduous hill forests from foothills to about 1500 metres. It breeds cooperatively in groups.

                  Long-tailed Broadbill

The Long–tailed Broadbill (Psarisomus dalhousiae) is a species of Broadbill found in the Himalayas, extending East through North-Eastern India to South-East Asia. It is the only bird in the genus Psarisomus. It is about 25 cm (10 inches) in length and weighs between 50 and 60 gms. It can be identified by its shrill call. The Long-tailed Broadbill is a forest bird that lives on insects. It is very sociable and normally travels in large, noisy parties except during the mating season. It builds pear-shaped nests in trees.

                        Ultramarine Flycatcher

The Ultramarine Flycatcher or the white-browed blue Flycatcher (Ficedula superciliaris) is a small arboreal Old World flycatcher in the ficedula family that breeds in the foothills of the Himalayas and winters in Southern India. Its habitat is open mixed forests of oak, rhododendron, pine, fir etc. occasionally in orchards. It keeps largely to low trees and bushes, feeding among the foliage canopy, not venturing much into the open. It constantly jerks up its tail, often accompanied by fluffing of head feathers and a “trrr” note, especially in the proximity of its nest. Its diet is mainly insects.

                  White-browed Fulvetta

The White-browed Fulvetta (Fulvetta vinipectus) is a bird species in the family Sylvidae. Like the other typical fulvettas, it was long included in the Timalidae genus Alcippe. Ranging across the Indian sub-continent and South-East Asia, it is endemic to Bhutan, India, Myanmar, Nepal and Vietnam. Its natural habitat is temperate forest.

                                Grandala

The Grandala (Grandala coelicolor) is a bird species now placed in the family Tirdidae. It is an arboreal insectivore. It ranges across the North-Eastern Indian sub-continent and some adjoining regions, existing primarily in the low-to-mid altitudes of the Himalayas. It is found in Bhutan, India, Myanmar, Nepal & Tibet.
