778) "Kangaroo at Sunset": The Royal Australian Mint is phasing out this iconic $25 Gold Coin from its repertoire of Commemorative coins in 2018:

The Royal Australian Mint has announced on 06.08.2018, that after 11 years of minting the iconic "Kangaroo at Sunset", $25 Gold one-fifth ounce Proof Coin, the mint will stop the production of this coin after 2018.

The "Kangaroo at Sunset" $25 Gold Proof Coin is exclusively available by ballot and its release has been a yearly tradition for the mint, which struck the first coin in this Series in 2007.

Designed by Royal Australian Mint artist Wojciech Pietranik, the coin depicts a lone Kangaroo crossing the red soil desert plains against a setting sun, capturing the beauty of the Australian outback. The peripheral inscription on the centre left reads "1/5 Oz.9999 Au".

The one-fifth ounce piece rapidly became one of the flagship coins issued by the RAM and was a great favourite for collectors and bullion buyers alike.

2018 will be the final year for the "Kangaroo at Sunset" coin, as such only 1,000 pieces are to be produced/minted.

It is expected that the ballot for purchasing this coin will be the most subscribed to and popular one yet. The ballot closes on 24.09.2018 and will be drawn on 27.09.2018. Both Australian & International customers can participate in the ballot, if their names/accounts are recorded in the RAM books by 13.08.2018.

The Kangaroo at Sunset" $25 gold Proof coins will be replaced by another popular Coin Series, details of which will be given out at a later date.
