860) "Aconcagua", Argentina: 25 Dollars High Relief Silver Coin: - The  third coin in the "7 Summits Coin Series" issued by the Cook Islands in co-ordination with Coin Invest Trust (CIT) and minted by B.H. Mayer's Kunstprageanstalt GmbH issued in November 2018:

The 7 Summits included in this Coin series have featured on several coins/coin series across the world, over the years including Coin Invest Trust's previously issued coins with mountains and Flora as their themes.

The Series initiator - DENALI - was introduced at the American Numismatic Association (ANA) World Trade Fair of Money (WFM) held in Anaheim, California, from 9th to 13th August 2016. The second coin presented in the World Fair of Money held at Denver, Colarado from 01 - 05 August 2017, featured -  MOUNT EVEREST - I in the Himalayas. In November 2018 at the Coin Constellation in Russia, the Second edition of the Coin Series, featuring Mount Everest was awarded the second prize in the category "Coin of the Year".

"7 Summits Coin Series" covers the world's highest peaks and most famous mountains and is dedicated to these 7 most spectacular peaks. Coin Invest Trust's Smartminting technology brings a "true-to-life" relief of the seven summits as viewed from above. The refined selective colour application adds a more realistic appearance to this coin series that accentuates the mountain ridges and valleys, rendering the coins into fascinating numismatic works of art. All the coins in the series are being minted by B.H. Mayer's Kunstprageanstalt GmbH.

A three-dimensional effect of the Aconcagua Coin presents the High Relief of the Smartminting technology of CIT. The coin is placed Obverse side down in a seemingly natural environment with dark clouds and lightning.

This coin features the Aconcagua peak in Argentina, which at 6,960.8 metres (or 22,837 feet) presents the highest elevation outside of the Himalayas in both the Southern and Western Hemispheres. It is the only one of the "Seven Summits", that can be ascended without climbing equipment, as such, even young boys of the age of 9 and 87 year old enthusiasts can climb this peak.  However, sometimes  potential summitteers under-estimate Aconcagua several times and precious lives have been lost quite a few times. Interestingly, a mummy from the 15th Century AD, found at 5,300 metres (or 17,388 feet) is an indication that the mountain was an all-time favourite of climbers way before the present day.

Another image of the Aconcagua coin presents a top view of the mountain from a bird's eye view perspective

Traditionally, many German mountaineers opt for an expedition to Aconcagua popularised with the scientific expedition of Paul Gussfeldt from Berlin in 1882-83. One of the camps has been named "Camp Berlin" in honour of the various German expeditions. It is believed that the first recorded summiteer to climb the mountain was the Swiss mountain guide - Matthais Zurbriggen on 14.01.1897.

Like the earlier issues in this coin series, the mintage of this - the third edition of the 7 Summits" Series is 777 pieces.

The Coin:

The Reverse of the 25 Dollars - The 7 Summits - Mount Aconcagua Silver Coin - 2018

On the Reverse of the 25 Dollars Silver coin is seen Mount Aconcagua from a bird's eye view perspective, its majestic heights cast in a three-dimensional relief. The coin depicts the terrain of Mount Aconcagua peak/summit.

The peripheral inscriptions are "ACONCAGUA 6962 m, Andes South America". On the lower periphery is mentioned the Series name " THE 7 SUMMITS".

The Obverse of the Silver 25 Dollars Coin

On the Obverse of the 25 Dollars Silver Coin is seen an effigy of Queen Elizabeth II facing right. The initials of the effigy designer "Ian Rank Broadley" (IRB) appear below the Queen's neck. The peripheral inscriptions are - "ELIZABETH II, COOK ISLANDS, 25 DOLLARS, .999 (fineness)".
