893) Anguilla  "Culinary Capital" of the East Caribbean: Sixth Coin out of 8 to be issued in the Eastern Caribbean Gold & Silver Bullion and Commemorative Coin Programme: ("EC8 Programme") - all coins to be released with the issue date as 2018: Gold Bullion Coins (10 Dollars) and Silver Bullion Coins (2 Dollars):

Scottsdale Mint in collaboration with the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB) has initiated for the first time, a Gold and Silver Bullion and Commemorative Coin Programme titled - the "EC8". Scottsdale Mint had earlier brought out popular coins like the "Cayman Islands Marlin" and "Hokusal" and "The Great Wave").

The "EC8" Coin Programme consists of four coins minted with the release date as "2018" on behalf of each of the eight Caribbean Island Members (CIM) that comprises the ECCB - Anguilla, Antigua & Barbuda, Commonwealth of Dominica, Grenada, Montserrat, Saint Kitts & Nevis, Saint Lucia and Saint Vincent & the Grenadines.

Some of these nations have never had a gold or silver bullion coin issued for them, but the present series has a unique design for each country being released/issued throughout the year.

The ECCB is the official issuer of the Eastern Caribbean Dollar - the currency of the "EC8 2018 Coin Programme".

All coins are legal tender in the territories of all 8 members that comprises the ECCB.

The sixth coin features Anguilla, a British Overseas Territory (BOT):

Anguilla is a British Overseas Territory (BOT) lying in the Caribbean.

It is one of the most Northerly of the Leeward Islands in the Lesser Antilles, lying  East of Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands and directly North of Saint Martin.

The territory consists of the main island of Anguilla, which is about 16.0 miles (26.0 kilometres) long and 3.0 miles (4.8 kilometres) wide at the widest point, together with several much smaller islands and cays with no permanent population. The island's capital is "The Valley". The total land area of the territory is about 35.0 sq. miles (91.0 sq. kilometres), with a population of around 15,000 people.

Anguilla is a flat low-lying island of coral and is noted for its spectacular and ecologically important coral reefs and beaches. Anguilla has a habitat for the Cuban tree frogs. The red-footed tortoise which came from South America is a species of tortoise found here. Hurricanes led to the over-water dispersal for the green iguanas to colonise Anguilla. All three animal species are introduced to Anguilla.

In addition, there are five species of bats - the threatened insular single leaf bat, the Antillean fruit-eating bat, the Jamaican fruit bat, the Mexican funnel-eared bat and the velvety free-tailed bat.

North-eastern trade winds keep this tropical island relatively cool and dry. Average annual temperature is around 27 degrees C. July-October is its hottest period and December-February is its coolest. Rainfall averages about 890.0 mm annually. The island is subject to both sudden tropical storms and hurricanes.
