Scottsdale Mint in collaboration with the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB) has initiated for the first time, a Gold and Silver Bullion and Commemorative Coin Programme titled - the "EC8". (Scottsdale Mint had earlier brought out popular coins like the Cayman Islands Marlin" and "Hokusal" and "The Great Wave").

The "EC8" Coin Programme consists of four coins minted with the release date as "2018" on behalf of each of the eight Caribbean Island Members (CIM) that comprises the ECCB  - Anguilla, Antigua & Barbuda, Commonwealth of Dominica, Grenada, Montserrat, Saint Kitts & Nevis, Saint Lucia and Saint Vincent & the Grenadines.

Some of these nations have never had a gold or silver bullion coin issued for them, but the present series has a unique design for each country being released/issued throughout the year.

The ECCB is the official issuer of the Eastern Caribbean Dollar - the currency of the "EC8 2018 Coin Programme".

All coins are legal tender in the territories of all 8 members that comprises the ECCB.

The seventh coin features a "seaplane" from St. Vincent & the Grenadines:

Saint Vincent & the Grenadines is a country in the Lesser Antilles island arc, in the Southern portion of the Windward Islands, which lies in the West Indies at the Southern end of the Eastern border of the Caribbean Sea, where the Caribbean Sea meets the Atlantic Ocean.

The Sovereign State frequently referred to as "St. Vincent" has about 389 square kilometres of territory which consists of the main island of Saint Vincent and the Northern two-thirds of the Grenadines, which are a chain of smaller islands stretching South from St. Vincent Island to Grenada. Most of St. Vincent and the Grenadines lies within the "Hurricane Alley".

To the North of St. Vincent lies St. Lucia and to the East is Barbados. St. Vincent & the Grenadines has a population of over 1,10,000 inhabitants. Kingstown is the capital and main port.

St. Vincent has a French and British colonial history and is now a part of the Organisation of East Caribbean States, CARICOM, the Commonwealth of Nations, the Bolivarian Alliance for the Americas and the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC).

St. Vincent & the Grenadines is a pristine island chain, uncluttered by tourist exploitation, with white sandy beaches on deserted islands, sky-blue water gently lapping on the shores.

On the other hand, the island of St. Vincent is volcanic and presents little level ground. The windward side of the island is very rocky and steep, while the leeward side has more sandy beaches and bays. In fact,  "La Soufriere" volcano is St. Vincent's highest volcano at about 1,234 metres (or 4,049 feet).

This multi-faceted Caribbean nation offers a combination of rain-forest eco-adventures, scuba-diving, classic Caribbean powder-white sand beaches, luxury accommodation and yachting or sailing adventures.
