I have yesterday (02.12.2019) received a Rs.100/- Quaternary Silver Coin commemorating the Birth Anniversary of Shri Atal Behari Vajpayee (1924-2018) who was the Prime Minister of India for three terms:
A composite image of the Cardboard Box containing the Coin Presentation Case, the Presentation Case and the Information Brochure on Shri Atal Behari Vajpayee.
Below this inscription is Shri Vajpayee's portrait together with his signature in Hindi.
Further below is inscribed "Smarak Sikka" (in Hindi) and "COMMEMORATIVE COIN" (in English), below which is the year of issue "2018".
At the extreme right bottom is mentioned the Coin Quality - "UNC (One Coin)" in English (meaning that the Coin Quality is "Uncirculated").
Below the Emblem is inscribed "Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ki Jayanti - 1924-2018" (in Hindi) and "Smarak Sikka" (also in Hindi).
At the bottom is mentioned "BIRTH ANNIVERSARY OF ATAL BEHARI VAJPAYEE (1924-2018). COMMEMORATIVE COIN. 2018" (in English).
The Information Brochure contains a brief description as under:
"Atal Behari Vajpayee was one of the greatest Parliamentarians of India, born on 25th December 1924 in Gwalior, in today's Madhya Pradesh. He did his post-graduation in political science from DAV College, Kanpur.
Atal Behari Vajpayee was Member of Parliament for over four decades having been elected to Lok Sabha ten times and twice to the Rajya Sabha.
He was the most respected and regarded politician, leader and parliamentarian cutting across different sections of the society and political spectrum.
He served as Prime Minister of India for three terms - 1996, 1998-1999 and 1999-2004. Twice he led an Indian delegation to the United Nations and he was a member of the Indian delegation to the UN at least seven times.
The nation honoured him with Padma Vibhushan and Best Parliamentarian Award.
11th May 1998 was truly a golden day when as Prime Minister he announced to the nation and rest of the world about the successful underground nuclear test in Pokhran. At the same time, he made clear India's stand on nuclear weapons, that India wanted peace and harmony. He sought to improve diplomatic relations with Pakistan, travelling to Lahore by Bus. He steered the country to victory in the 1999 Kargil War. He undertook many reform measures in the country and keeping it on the liberisation track, including initiation of the Golden Quadrilateral Project.
He was conferred with the country's highest civilian award "Bharat Ratna" in 2015.
True to his name, Atalji was an eminent national leader, an erudite politician, a selfless social worker, forceful orator, poet, journalist and indeed a multi-faceted personality".
The Reverse of the Rupees One Hundred (Rs.100/-) Quaternary Silver Coin depicts Shri Atal Behari Vajpayee's portrait.
On the left to upper periphery is mentioned his name "Atal Behari Vajpayee" (in Hindi) and on the upper to right periphery is mentioned his name in English - "ATAL BEHARI VAJPAYEE".
His life years are mentioned on the lower periphery - "1924-2018". At the extreme bottom is the "diamond"mint mark of the Mumbai Mint.
The coin is encapsulated to protect it.
The Obverse of the Rupees One Hundred (Rs.100/-) Quaternary Silver Coin is inscribed at left, the country name - "Bharat"(in Hindi) and at right "INDIA" (in English).
On the left to upper periphery is mentioned his name "Atal Behari Vajpayee" (in Hindi) and on the upper to right periphery is mentioned his name in English - "ATAL BEHARI VAJPAYEE".
His life years are mentioned on the lower periphery - "1924-2018". At the extreme bottom is the "diamond"mint mark of the Mumbai Mint.
The coin is encapsulated to protect it.
In the centre is the Emblem of India, inspired by the Lion pillar/capitol of the legendary "Samrat" (Emperor) of Ancient India - "Ashok the Great", below which is the inscription "Satyamev Jayate" (meaning "Truth will Always Prevail").
At the bottom periphery is inscribed the denomination of the coin "100" (preceded by the Rupee symbol).
