1222) Coat of Arms of Cities and Regions of Latvia: A set of five stamps issued by Latvijas Pasts (Latvia Post) depicting the Coats of arms of Babite (1.42 Euro), Durbe (1.00 Euro), Koknese (1.35 Euro), Krimulda (1.29 Euro) and Vilani (1.54 Euros) Municipalities: Stamp set issue date: 03.01.2020:

1222) Coat of Arms of Cities and Regions of Latvia: A set of five stamps issued by Latvijas Pasts (Latvia Post) depicting the Coats of arms of Babite (1.42 Euro), Durbe (1.00 Euro), Koknese (1.35 Euro), Krimulda (1.29 Euro) and Vilani (1.54 Euros) Municipalities: Stamp set issue date: 03.01.2020:

"Latvijas Pasts" (Latvia Post) has issued the first five stamps of 2020in the Postage Stamp Series titled "Coats of Arms of Latvian Towns and Municipalities", depicting the Coat of Arms of Babite, Durbe, Koknese, Krimulda and Vilani Minicipalities.


The First Day Cover (FDC) issued with the set. The Special Cancellation Handstamp/postmark is dated "03.01.2020" and is of Riga Post Office. 

The First Day Cover, has a print run of 1,000 copies. The Cover features the Coat of Arms of the five municipalities (affixed at top right) and the location of the municipalities on the map of Latvia (shown at left).


The five stamp set shows Coat of Arms of the five Municipalities included in this set.

Each of the new stamps has been released with a different face value in accordance with the new UPS tariffs that have been put in place since 01.01.2020.

1) Coat of Arms of Babite Municipality:


The Coat of Arms of Babite Municipality is depicted on a stamp with a face value of 1.42 Euros. The stamp value corresponds to the postage of letter-post items in the weight class of up to 20.0 grams to the countries located in Zone 3 according to the new tariff structure.

The silver field of the Coat of Arms of Babite Municipality features a red inflorescence of rhododendrons with five green leaves underneath. The Rhododendron symbolises the values of nature that all inhabitants of the Municipality should care about, while the inflorescence stands for the family, which is one of the  values defined by Babite Municipality.

The no. of stamps of Babite Municipality issued are 500,000 copies and the stamp has been designed by Girts Griva.

2) Coat of Arms of Durbe Municipality:


The Coat of Arms of Durbe Municipality is depicted on a stamp with a face value of 1.0 Euro. The stamp value corresponds  to the postage of letter-post items in the weight class up to 20.0 grams within Latvia.

The Coat of Arms incorporates a silver apple tree with apples, symbolising the town of Durbw and the combined parishes of Durbe, Dunalka, Tadaiki and Vecpils.

The no. of stamps of Durbe Municipality are 1.0 million copies and it has been designed by Girts Griva.

3) Coat of Arms of Koknese Municipality:


The Coat of Arms of Koknese Municipality is depicted on the Stamp with a face value of 1.35 Euros. The stamp face value corresponds to the postage of letter-post items in the weight class up to 20.0 grams to the countries located in Zone-2.

The Coat of Arms of Koknese Municipality features a number of historical Koknese symbols - a silver crescent, a golden key and a silver wand.

The no. of stamps of Koknese Municipality are 500,000 copies and it has been designed by Girts Griva.

4) Coat of Arms of Krimulda Municipality:


The Coat of Arms of Krimulda Municipality is depicted on the Stamp with a face value of 1.29 Euros. The stamp face value corresponds to the postage of letter-post items in the weight class up to 20.0 grams to the countries located in Zone-1.

The Coat of Arms of Krimulda Municipality features golden apples on a red background, symbolising fertility.

The no. of stamps of Krimulda Municipality are 500,000 copies and it has been designed by Girts Griva.

5) Coat of Arms of Vilani Municipality:


The Coat of Arms of Vilani Municipality is depicted on the stamp with a face value of 1.54 Euros. The stamp face value corresponds to the postage of letter-post items in the weight class up to 20.0 grams to the countries located in Zone-4.

The green field of this Coat of Arms portrays a golden nightingale with a silver bird cherry branch in its beak, while the lower part shows a silver river with four waves, symbolising all four territorial units of the Municipality.

The no. of stamps of Vilani Municipality are 500,000 copies and it has been designed by Girts Griva.
