Flowers, appreciated for their beauty are infused with significance and meanings derived from their names, distinctive characteristics and rich mythology. Countries and regions are often represented by the perfect flower that portrays their nation's pride.

The Singapore Mint has brought out the "World Enchanting Flower Coin Series, featuring an impressive range of flowers which are well-known representative and iconic flowers of countries and regions.

The Coin Series includes six enchanting flowers coins - Lotus, Orchid, Shrub althea, Peony, Cherry blossom and Rose, all issued by Niue from 2019 onwards. Minted in unique flower shapes, the exquisite coins are illustrated in ultra-high relief with stunning enamel and lucent colours.

Enchanting Orchid:

Orchids generally symbolise beauty, love and fertility. The Orchid family consists of a wide range of unique species and hy6brids, each infused with added significance and meanings derived from its name, distinctive characteristics and rich mythology. Countries like Colombia, Venezuela and Costa Rica are represented by the orchid that portrays their nation's pride.

With thousands of orchid species available, the Enchanting Orchid Coin is designed after Singapore's National Flower - Orchid (Vanda Miss Joachim).

Orchids represent Singapore's national pride and identity and their resilient qualities mirror Singapore's continuous pursuit of excellence. Orchids are ambassadors of Singapore to the world. They have also contributed significantly to Singapore's flower industry. 

Vanda Miss Joachim was chosen as Singapore's national flower for its vibrant colours, hardiness and resilience qualities that reflect the Singapor spirit. The hybrid orchid is also a symbol of Singapore's multicultural heritage.

The effigy of Queen Elizabeth II facing right is depicted in the centre of the coin. The edge inscriptions are - "ELAZABETH II. NIUE. TWO DOLLARS. 2020" and "1 Oz. 999 FINE SILVER".
