The Witcher:
“The Witcher” is a fantasy drama television series created by Lauren Schmidt Hissrich for Netflix. It is based on the book series by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski.
Set on a fictional, medieval-inspired landmass known as “the Continent”, The Witcher explores the legend of Geralt of Rivia, Yennefer of Vengerberg and Princess Ciri. It stars Henry Cavill, Anya Chalotra, and Freya Allan.
The first season, consisting of eight episodes, was released on Netflix on December 20, 2019.
It was based on “The Last Wish” and “Sword of Destiny”, which are collections of short stories that precede the main The Witcher saga.
The second season, also consisting of eight episodes and based on the novel Blood of Elves, was released on December 17, 2021.
In September 2021, Netflix renewed the series for a third season, which also consists of eight episodes, released in two volumes on June 29 and July 27, 2023. This will be followed by a fourth season, with Liam Hemsworth taking over the role of Geralt of Rivia.
In April 2024, the series was renewed for its fifth and final season.
An animated origin story film, Nightmare of the Wolf, was released on August 23, 2021. A prequel miniseries, “Blood Origin”, was released on December 25, 2022. A second film, “Sirens of the Deep”, is expected to be released in February 2025.
The Storyline:
The story begins with Geralt of Rivia, Crown Princess Cirilla of Cintra, and the quarter-elf sorceress Yennefer of Vengerberg at different points in time, exploring formative events that shape their characters throughout the first season, before eventually merging into a single timeline.
Geralt and Ciri are linked by destiny since before she was born when he unknowingly demanded her as a reward for his services by invoking "the Law of Surprise". After the two finally meet, Geralt becomes the princess's protector and must help her and fight against her various pursuers to prevent her Elder Blood and powerful magic from being used for malevolent purposes and keep Ciri and their world safe.
This extraordinary coin is created in cooperation with Andrzej Sapkowski, a famous Polish writer who wrote books in the series ‘The Witcher’. On the basis of his works, CD Project Red created a series of games in addition to a hit Netflix TV series. In the spirit of this massively popular franchise, Mint of Gdansk will release collectible coins with incredible designs from The Witcher.

The Coin:
The Witcher saga continues with the 7th issue in the series, "The Lady of the Lake" with every detail brougt to vidid life thanks to the exceptional high relief strike.
There is also select gilding and a special coloured 3D insert on the reverse.
The Reverse of the $5 (Five Dollars Coin) depicts the titular "Lady of the Lake – Nimue", standing at the top of a staircase leading to ornate doors, which reflect the magical and mysterious nature of her world. The Lady of the Lake, known for her great power and complex nature, is presented here in full glory, in a long, decorated gown that adds a majestic look to her figure.
At her feet stands a young woman – Condwiramurs Tilly, a 24-year-old sorceress from Vicovaro. She holds green boots in her hand, which she removed after jumping out of the boat. Despite the challenges she faces, her sense of excitement grows. She is on Inis Vitre Island, by the legendary Loc Blest lake – a place accessible only to a select few.
On the right, a man in a hooded cloak rows – a fisherman who helped Tilly reach Inis Vitre. A gilded fishing net, emphasized by selective gilding, enriches the entire composition.
In the background, an ornamented throne surrounded by swords recalls the constant battles and adventures experienced by Sapkowski’s characters.
