The Witcher:

“The Witcher” is a fantasy drama television series created by Lauren Schmidt Hissrich for Netflix. It is based on the book series by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski.

Set on a fictional, medieval-inspired landmass known as “the Continent”, The Witcher explores the legend of Geralt of Rivia, Yennefer of Vengerberg and Princess Ciri. It stars Henry Cavill, Anya Chalotra, and Freya Allan.

The first season, consisting of eight episodes, was released on Netflix on December 20, 2019.

It was based on “The Last Wish” and “Sword of Destiny”, which are collections of short stories that precede the main The Witcher saga.

The second season, also consisting of eight episodes and based on the novel Blood of Elves, was released on December 17, 2021.

In September 2021, Netflix renewed the series for a third season, which also consists of eight episodes, released in two volumes on June 29 and July 27, 2023. This will be followed by a fourth season, with Liam Hemsworth taking over the role of Geralt of Rivia.

In April 2024, the series was renewed for its fifth and final season.

An animated origin story film, Nightmare of the Wolf, was released on August 23, 2021. A prequel miniseries, “Blood Origin”, was released on December 25, 2022. A second film, “Sirens of the Deep”, is expected to be released in February 2025.

The Storyline:

The story begins with Geralt of Rivia, Crown Princess Cirilla of Cintra, and the quarter-elf sorceress Yennefer of Vengerberg at different points in time, exploring formative events that shape their characters throughout the first season, before eventually merging into a single timeline.

Geralt and Ciri are linked by destiny since before she was born when he unknowingly demanded her as a reward for his services by invoking "the Law of Surprise". After the two finally meet, Geralt becomes the princess's protector and must help her and fight against her various pursuers to prevent her Elder Blood and powerful magic from being used for malevolent purposes and keep Ciri and their world safe.

This extraordinary coin is created in cooperation with Andrzej Sapkowski, a famous Polish writer who wrote books in the series ‘The Witcher’. On the basis of his works, CD Project Red created a series of games in addition to a hit Netflix TV series. In the spirit of this massively popular franchise, Mint of Gdansk will release collectible coins with incredible designs from The Witcher.

"Sword of Destiny" - Second Coin in the Series:

The Mint of Gdansk has presented this unique coin "Sword of Destiny" in "The Witcher Book Series"!

It is the second coin in "The Witcher Book Series". The series was opened in 2019 by "The Last Wish" coin, its name referring to the novels by Andrzej Sapkowski by the same title.

The Sword of Destiny coin is mint in 62.2 grams of pure silver. The reverse, 45 mm in diameter, shows two scenes that appear at the beginning and end of the story.

The main scene on the Reverse of the $5 (Five Dollars) Silver Coinoften described by experts and fans as one of the most important in The Witcher Book Series, presents three characters.

The Queen of Brokilon, Eithne, is holding the goblet and hands it to Ciri, one of the main figures in the saga. Next to her is Dryad Braenn.

The goblet is filled with the Brokilone Water, containing special powers. Drinking water from the goblet is to determine the fate of Ciri and the others - she may choose to stay in Brokilon or follow her destiny.

In the background we see the main character, who has killed skolopendromorf - a forest creature attacking the local residents.

Every detail of the Reverse is perfectly visible thanks to the high relief, and the whole looks very vividly, just like the world presented in the collection of Sapkowski's novels.

The accessories also attract attention. The Character's sword was plated with pure gold.

The most important element of the decoration, the goblet, was made in a very special, hand-polished glass, multilayered 3D glass (slight differences in colour compared to visualisations may occur).

The Obverse of the $5 (Five Dollars) Silver Coin is decorated with ornaments and symbols related to the Brokilon Forest and hero's attributes - swords and a wolf symbol.

The elegant coin box also bears the symbol of the hero i.e. the wolf. Limited mintage of 2000 pieces!
