The latest exquisite creation to join this exclusive category of coins is titled "DISCOVERY". Struck in sublime proof quality, "Discovery" comprises an outer coin and a centre-piece emulating colonial Australia's first official coinage - the historic 'holey dollar and dump'.

Perth Mint, Australia has brought out this unique master-piece, one-of-a-kind collectible with a mintage of 1 Coin only, which celebrates the discoveries in Australia of two of the world's most treasured natural riches - gold and Argyle pink diamonds.
Gold played a major role in the development of modern Australia. Famously found in Ophir in New South Wales in 1851, it was subsequently discovered in such abundant deposits that the Australian continent was gripped by two of the world's greatest gold rushes.
Determined to seek their fortunes, hundreds of thousands of gold prospectors from around the globe raced to Victoria's gold fields during the 1850s, where the diggings contained some of the richest deposits ever found. Gold fever once again returned to Australia in the 1890s, when similarly fabulous finds were unearthed in Western Australia - a region that contributes a significant proportion of the world's gold supplies to this day.
Argyle Pink Diamonds were discovered in the vast Australian outback, along with other minerals in 1979,in rugged Kimberley in the country's far North-west - one of Planet Earth's most exquisite gemstones, which are among the rarest gems known to mankind.
Billions of years earlier, deep beneath the surface, extra-ordinary natural forces had created the marvel of pink diamonds - and then thrust them upwards through narrow pipes of fast moving magma. The stories of destiny and fortune are recreated through The Perth Mint's exceptional artistry on an exquisite coin, which is meticulously struck in 2.0 kilograms of pure gold.
The coin is studded with four exceptional Argyle pink diamonds - including two exclusive stones weighing 1.02 and 0.88 carats, which accentuate the detailed representation of how gold and diamonds were discovered in the vast Australian outback.
Adding to the historic nature of the original design, this coin is Australian legal tender and has been created in a format inspired by the holey dollar - the first currency minted in the colony of New South Wales and introduced in 1814.

Discovery's Outer Coin showcases a sailing ship alongside a small row-boat ferrying hopeful diggers ashore, while a 19th Century prospector pans for gold in front of miner's tents.
The Kimberley is characterised by an iconic boab, two kangaroos and a stunning round cut pink diamond representing the tropical sun. The artistry also depicts a worker ant on the surface of an anthill with a spectacular emerald cut pink diamond between its mandibles.
The Centre Coin is inscribed with a representation of the Australian continent with two additional inset pink diamonds indicating the location of Ophir in the South-east and the Argyle Diamond Mine in the North-west.
These gemstones are among the finest examples of Argyle pink diamonds unearthed in the Kimberley - both handset stones were originally show-cased at the prestigious Argyle Pink Diamond Signature Tender.
The pink diamonds included in this coin set are by themselves worth about $1.70 million.
On an average only 50 to 60 such stones are offered annually by this exclusive invitation-only process.
