851) Northern Ireland Polymer Banknote issues: Danske Bank (10 Pound Polymer Banknotes), Bank of Ireland (5 and 10 Pound Polymer Banknotes) to go into circulation in 2020/21:
The Danske Bank and the Bank of Ireland who are two of the four Northern Ireland authorised Banks to issue Banknotes are now issuing Polymer Banknotes, like their other two counterparts - Ulster Bank which had announced in May this year that its polymer Banknote issues will be put into circulation in 2019.
The Bank of Ireland will be releasing 5 and 10 Pound Polymer Banknotes and will cease printing of the cotton banknotes in these two denominations, while the Danske Bank will be issuing 10 Pound Polymer Banknotes only.
The Bank of England and all three Scottish Bankns have already introduced the process of changeover to Polymer Banknotes, except First Trust Bank which is yet to do so.
The Polymer Danske Bank will only be issued in 10 Pounds denominations, as Danske Bank feels that there is a lack of demand for this denomination. As such, their 5 Pounds Banknote was discontinued a quite some time ago.
Before the Northern Bank's acquisition under the title of Danske Bank, the Bank had issued its only 5 Pounds polymer Banknote in 12/1999, which wasmore in the nature of a commemorative Banknote ushering in the new millennium.
The 10 Pounds Polymer Banknote will be similar to the current paper version and features the portrait of inventor John Dunlop - the founder of the tyre company - but the design includes a depiction of Dunlop's son. Although Dunlop was Scottish, he developed pneumatic tyres in Belfast.
The Bank of Ireland's 5 and 10 Pounds Polymer Banknotes will also remain more or less identical to the presently circulating issues.
The image on the Back will continue to feature the Bushmills Distillery in County Antrim, where Irish Whiskey is made at Ireland's oldest working distillery.
The Polymer Banknotes are likely to be issued by both Banks in 2020/21. After the introduction/circulation of polymer banknotes, the paper versions will be gradually withdrawn from circulation.

No, Vikram. England has three banks, Scotland three and northern Ireland has four banks issuing Banknotes. The Central Bank on my lays down policy guidelines mostly and brings out commemorative coins and supervises circulation coin issues etc. My laptop is again possessed by Windows 10 updates, as such I am not able to give more info right now. Will do so once my laptop is exorcised. 😉

Not to mention Clydesdale Bank and Royal Bank of Scotland. I have king Bruce of the spider fame and the Ryder Cup commemorative Banknote in my collection. Also the BOE Churchill 5 pound and the 10 pound polymer Jane Austin Banknote. It's a veritable history lesson on all these notes.
