This is one of the Celebratory Coins of the Numismatic Collection 2021, issued by the Ministry of Economy and Finance and minted by the State Mint. 

The collection consists of 15 subjects inspired by history, art, sport, science, nature and Italian food and wine excellences

World Alpine Ski Cortina – 5 Euros

Food and Wine Series – Sicily, cannolo and passito – 5 Euros

700th Anniversary of the death of Dante Alighieri – Inferno – 2 Gold and Silver variants (20 and 5 Euros)

450th Anniversary of the Birth of Caravaggio – 2 gold and silver versions (20 and 5 Euros)

The themes, sketches and artistic techniques of the 2021 Collection have been chosen, as every year, by a Commission composed of representatives of the Ministry, the Mint and Masters of Art.

The Poligrafico e Zecca dello Stato (IPZS) has released new 10 Euro Rhodium plated Silver Coins in the celebrating the 100th Anniversary of the Italian Basketball Federation:

The Italian Ministry of Economy and Finance has issued, as part of the 2021 Numismatic Collection minted by the Italian State Mintnew 10 Euro Rhodium plated Silver Coins celebrating the 100th Anniversary of the Italian Basketball Federation:

The Italian Basketball Federation (Italian: Federazione Italiana Pallacanestro - FIP) was founded in 1921 and is the governing body of basketball in Italy. It is based in Rome. 

It organises national competitions in Italy and the Italian basketball leagues, which operate the country's two professional leagues, Lega Basket Serie A (LBA) and Serie A2 Basket.

It is also responsible for appointing the management of the Italian national basketball team (men's) and women's and also young men's (under-19 and under-17), women's (under-19 and under-17), 3x3 men's and women's basketball teams/programmes.

It is a member of the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) as one of the founding member, and has one of the world's longest basketball traditions.

The Commemorative 10 Euro Silver Coin:


On the Reverse of the 10 Euro Rhodium-plated Silver Coins in the foreground, the silhouettes of two basketball players in game action with the number "100" in between, to indicate the years since the Italian Basketball  Federation was founded.

The composition is flanked by the dates "1921-2021" - the year of the FIP foundation and that of the Coin's release respectively.

On the top centre, is the mint mark of the mint of Rome "R". Below, on the right is the name of the designer "V.DE SETA".

On the outer periphery is the inscription - "FEDERAZIONE ITALIANA PALLACANESTRO". The coin has coloured elements. 

On the Obverse of the 10 Euro Rhodium-plated Silver Coin is an overhead view of a besket and a basketball with the numeral "10" (the denominational value of the Coin) standing out.

On the outer periphery is the inscription - "REPUBBLICA ITALIANA" (name of the issuing country)and "EURO" respectively. The coin has coloured elements.
