The Header/Banner showcases the Obverse & Reverse of the 5 Euro Silver Coin against a background image of a skier participating in the Cortina Ski Championship
The Poligrafico e Zecca dello Stato (IPZS) has released new collector coins that mark the 2021 Alpine Skiing Championships, (the annual FIS Alpine Ski World Cup) hosted in the Northern Italian city of Cortina.
This Coin celebrates "Cortina 2021 Alpine World Ski Championships", which was held from 07-21.02.2021, in the Queen of the Dolomites.
Despite the Wuhan Virus World pandemic, more than 600 athletes representing 71 nations competed on an international level for 13 titles and events.
To date, the FIS Alpine Skiing Championships, an annual event since 1967, hosted in Cortina, Italy, was the largest sports competition held since the Wuhan virus pandemic gripped much of the world towards the end of 2019.
The "Cortina 2021 FIS Alpine World Ski Championships" came to a conclusion in fine style on the last day of competition when Norway’s Sebastian Foss-Solevaag took the coveted gold in the men’s slalom.
The 29-year-old showed complete mastery of both the steep upper section of the piste and the softer, lower run-in to secure Norway’s first world championship slalom gold since 1997.
