2133) UN Sustainable Development Goals United Nations, Greenland (Kalaalit Nunaat): A stamp of 14.00 DKK issued by TUSASS (formerly POST Greenland) depicting Greenland's commitment to the Goals: Date of Stamps issue: 09.11.2021:

The early Norse settlers named the island as Greenland. In the indigenous Greenlandic language it is called "Kalaalit Nunaat". The "Kalaalit" are the indigenous Greenlandic Inuit people who inhabit the country's Western region.

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) or Global Goals of the United Nations are a collection of 17 interlinked global goals designed to be a "blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all".

The SDGs were set up in 2015 by the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) and are intended to be achieved by the year 2030.

They are included in a UNGA Resolution called the "2030 Agenda" (or "Agenda 2030").

The SDGs were developed in the "Post-2015 Development Agenda" as the future global development framework to succeed the Millennium Development Goals which ended in 2015.

The 17 SDGs are: (1) No Poverty, (2) Zero Hunger, (3) Good Health and Well-being, (4) Quality Education, (5) Gender Equality, (6) Clean Water and Sanitation, (7) Affordable and Clean Energy, (8) Decent Work and Economic Growth, (9) Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, (10) Reducing Inequality, (11) Sustainable Cities and Communities, (12) Responsible Consumption and Production, (13) Climate Action, (14) Life Below Water, (15) Life On Land, (16) Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions, (17) Partnerships for the Goals.

The year by which the target is meant to be achieved is usually between 2020 and 2030. For some of the targets, no end date is given.

To facilitate monitoring, a variety of tools exist to track and visualize progress towards the goals. The SDGs pay attention to multiple cross-cutting issues, like gender equity, education, and culture cut across all of the SDGs.

The Stamp issued by TUSASS, Greenland (formerly POST Greenland):

The 17 sustainable development goals that the UN launched six years ago are also part of the Greenlandic society and for Greenlanders hold a great significance.

Martin Brandt Hansen has drawn the beautiful design on this stamp of 14 DKK, which is printed in offset.

The 17 sustainable development goals, which the United Nations Organisation (UNO) launched six years ago, also hold great significance for Greenland.

TUSASS Greenland, (formerly known as POST Greenland until 12.10.2021), has been working to the UN’s sustainable development goals for several years.

This stamp of 14 DKK marks these sustainable development goals with Greenland's commitment to these goals. The stamp designer Martin Brandt Hansen has endeavoured to convey one common sustainable development goal based on the 17 specific goals. He has included all the sustainable development goals - which he interprets as encircling the globe in his illustration - as a compositional expression that resembles a ball, symbolising one visual goal to which humans aspire and strive to achieve. He has envisioned it as "mankind desiring contact and connection with the Earth".

The strenuous nature of the body posture symbolises that the sustainable development goals cannot be achieved at the mere press of a button. The pose refers to an Angakkoq’s posture when he is on a spiritual journey of discovery.

The Angakkoq’s role, seen from this perspective, refers to how the world today searches for answers and for achieving solutions and improvements in society - in this case the entire global community.

The pose can also be associated with the "Inuit sport the Two-Foot High-Kick" and symbolises the necessity of strength to hit a difficult target. Physical action is necessary
