About Armenian Cultural Heritage In The Asian Region - 200th Anniversary Of The Armenian College and Philanthropic Academy Of Kolkata:

On 26.04.2021, HayPost CJSC (Armenian Post)  has issued a postage stamp dedicated to the theme “Armenian Cultural Heritage in the Asian Region. 200th Anniversary of the Armenian College and Philanthropic Academy of Kolkata” has been put into circulation.

Armenian College and Philanthropic Academy (ACPA) is an Armenian School on Mirza Ghalib Street, Kolkata (formerly Calcutta), India. As of 2015 it is the sole Armenian-centred school in the eastern section of the world, and has been so throughout its history. It is commonly known and called the "Armenian College". Its motto is "FOREVER FREEDOM AND BROTHERHOOD".

The Armenian College and Philanthropic Academy and Davidian Girls’ School are a living testimony to the love and dedication the founders of the Schools (Astvatsator Muradghanian, Mnatsakan Vardanian and David Avietik Davidian) had for the Armenian Community in India.

The institution was founded by members of the Calcutta Armenian Community primarily to educate their own children. The Armenian College has played a distinguished and important role in the preservation and spread of Armenian culture throughout the world. The pupils of the Armenian College have distinguished themselves in business, commerce, science and the arts.

The Postage Stamp:

The Postage Stamp with the nominal of 160 AMD depicts the facade of the building of the Armenian College and Philanthropic Academy of Kolkata, the logo of the Academy and the logo of the Armenia Apostolic Holy Church.
