About the 13th Definitive Stamp Issue - The Kingdom of Ararat:

1) On 06/02/2019 four postage stamps dedicated the the theme "13th Definitive Issue - Kingdom of Ararat", Armenia were put into circulation. The postage stamps depict the seals of the Kingdom of Ararat and date back to the 8th Century B.C.:


The set of four Postage stamps of 70, 120, 230 and 330 AMDs - Armenian Drams depicting seals of the Kingdom of Ararat, dating back to 8th Century B.C.


The postage stamp with a face value of 70 AMD - Armenian Drams) depicts the Chalcedony Seal, the height of which is 3.0 cm. This seal was found in Noratus village (Gegharkunik region).

The seal is light-brown and weight-shaped. The cylindrical side is engraved with an image of a sacred tree of life and a winged creature with raised arms at one side. On the bottom of the seal is an impression of a winged solar disk.


The postage stamp with the nominal value of 120 AMD depicts the Jet Seal, the height of which is 3.0 cm. The seal was found on the territory of Erebuni fortress (Yeravan). The seal is cuboid. Its four side faces and bottom are engraved. On the pair of larger rectangles are images of a sacred tree of life and a winged solar disk, whereas, on the pair of smaller rectangles are a fish and a sacred tree of life. At the bottom a mythical beast with furred neck and raised tail is engraved.


The postage stamp with a face value of 230 AMD depicts the Jet Seal, the height of which is 2 cm. The seal was found in Noratus village (Gegharkunik region).The seal is black and weight shaped. The images on the sides are damaged because of continuous usage.

On the curved side is a scene of a sacrifice - a priest or lord is sitting in an armchair with the right arm raised, there is a tree of life behind his back. On the sacrificial table in front of the man is a moon-shaped piece of bread. On the adjacent table is a sacred tree of life and another person in kneeling with an arm raised next to the table. On the bottom area of the seal is an impression of a horse with a sacred tree of life on its back.


The postage stamp with the nominal value of 330 AMD, depicts the Soapstone Seal, the height of which is 3.0 cm. The seal was found in Noratus village. The seal is cuboid. The bottom face is larger than the top. The rectangular side faces are identically engraved with images of spike-shaped sacred trees of life and a sitting lion with the tail rising above its back. At the bottom four fish images are engraved.

2. Two postage stamps under this Series in the denominations of 10 AMD and 50 AMD were issued on 27.12.2019:


The two stamps of 10 AMD and 50 AMD placed side-by-side.


The postage stamp with a face value of 10 AMD depicts the Chalcodony Seal, the height of which is 3.0 cm, found in Noratus village. The seal is light brown and weight shaped. The cylindrical side is engraved with an image of a sacred tree of life and a winged creature with raised arms at one side. On the bottom area of the seal is an impression of winged solar disk.


The postage stamp with a face value of 50 AMD depicts the Jet Seal, the height of which is 2.0 cm. The Seal was also found in Noratus village and is black in colour and weight shaped. The images on the sides are damaged because of continuous use.
