About Symbols of Lithuania State - Historic Paper Banknotes:
In 1915-1922, before the introduction of the Litas, there was a great deal of money in Lithuania, as the Russian Czar Ruble and the German Mark, Ostmark, Ostruble and US Dollars were in circulation. In addition, other currencies - Polish Marks, Latvian and Liepaja Rubles also circulated in individual territories.
Only in Vilnius region was it possible to pay with six types of currency/money.
On 09/08/1922, the Constituent Seimas adopted the "Law on Monetary Unit" and on the proposal of Vaclovas Vaidotas, Secretary of the Seimas Economic Commission, the currency was named Litas, subdivided into 100 Cents.
