The National Bank of Romania has released Commemorative Silver Proof Coins which celebrate the country’s "Military Museum" founded 100 years ago (1923-2023).

The King Ferdinand I National Military Museum (Romanian: Muzeul Militar Național "Regele Ferdinand I"), located at 125-127 Mircea Vulcănescu St., Bucharest, Romania, was established on 18.12.1923 by King Ferdinand I.

It has been at its present site since 1988, in a building finished in 1998.

Named after Romania’s second crowned head of state from the last dynasty, the King Ferdinand I National Military Museum is one of the most prestigious cultural institutions in Romania and has played an important role in promoting the military and historical traditions of the Romanian Army.

The 2018 film "I Do Not Care If We Go Down in History as Barbarians" was partially shot on the museum premises, both inside and in the yard.

The Silver Proof Coins:

The 10 Lei Silver Proof coins have been minted by the Monetăria Statului, Romanian State Mint, at their facilities in Bucharest, on behalf of the National Bank of Romania.

The Reverse of the 10 Lei Silver Proof Coin depicts a portion of the centre of the former Palace of Arts building which became the King Ferdinand I National Military Museum as its first location.

Superimposed over the right half is a profile portrait of King Ferdinand facing to the left.

Above the primary design are the commemorative inscription "MUZEUL MILITAR NATIONAL" (“National Military Museum”) placed along the upper periphery and "REGELE FERDINAND I" (placed on the lower periphery).

To the left of the king’s effigy is the inscription - "100 ANI" (“100 years”) marking the National Military Museum’s Centenary Anniversary.

The Obverse of the 10 Lei Silver Proof Coin includes the image of the entrance and portico of the current museum’s location.

Shown along the upper periphery is the text "ROMANIA" and the denomination "10 LEI", along with the year of issue "2023" (on the lower periphery).
