1145) a) Nikolai Andreyevich Rimsky-Korsakov, b) Rembrandt Harmenszoon van Rijn and c) Leonardo di ser Piero da Vinci: "The Anniversaries of Great Personalities" who contributed to the world's artistic culture: A set of postage stamps brought out by the Kyrgyz Express Post (KEP)  on 18.11.2019:

On 18.11.2019, the State Committee of Information Technology and Communications of the Kyrgyz Republic has brought out a set of postage stamps issued by the Kyrgyz Express Post (KEP) and a Souvenir sheet titled - "The Anniversaries of Great Personalities".

A First Day Cover (FDC) issued on Leonardo da Vinci's 500th Death Anniversary by the Kyrgyz Express Post shows his image bottom at left. The FDC is tilted "Leonardo da Vinci 500th Death Anniversary".

At top right is affixed the cancelled Souvenir Sheet issued on him. The Special Cancellation Handstamp bears a scroll/lemniscate and is inscribed "Leonardo da Vinci (1452-1519). The Cancellation is of Bishkek Post Office and is dated "18.11.2019".

The Size of this First Day Cover is 190.0 mm x 130.0 mm and the number of this FDC issued are 300 copies.

The Back of the First Day Cover (FDC) carries the following description:

"Leonardo di ser Piero da Vinci (15.04.1452 - 02.05.15) artist, architect, sculptor, scientist, inventor, engineer and musician of the High Renaissance. In the fullest sense, he was comprehensively developed. He was a genial man, who was not accidentally called the titan of the Renaissance.

Leonardo's contribution to world artistic culture is extremely important. He realised and embodied a new painting technique, which has led to a leap in development of realism in painting. Leonardo's works such as "The Monna Lisa (La Giaconda"), "The Last Supper", "Lady with an Ermine", "Madonna Litta", "Madonna Benois" and many others, continue to delight art connoisseurs on all continents.

Leonardo da Vinci was one of the founders of modern science, which is based on experimental research. He has made significant contributions to the development of astronomy, mechanics, hydraulics, anatomy, botany, minerology and other fiends of science. His achievements in engineering are also remarkable.

The highest skill, breadth of views and versatility of the great Leonardo's talent are timeless and will always arouse the keen interest of the general public".

The First Day Cover issued on Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov bears his image at left, showing him immersed in his work on his desk. The title inscribed is "N.A. Rimsky-Korsakov, 175th Birth Anniversary".

At top right is affixed the 75 KGS Stamp issued on him. The Special Cancellation Handstamp is of Bishkek Post Office and the cancellation is dated "18.11.2019".

The Back of the First Day Cover (FDC) gives the following description:

"Nikolai Andreyevich Rimsky-Korsakov (18.03.1844 - 21.06.1908) was a Russian composer, conductor, teacher, music critic, member of the musical creative community "The Five" (a.k.a. "The Mighty Handful"). He is the composer of 15 operas, 3 symphonies and many chamber, instrumental, vocal and spiritual works.

The music of Rimsky-Korsakov is distinguished by its national character, inspired by Russian fairy-tale folklore. Everyone knows his operas: "The Snow Maiden", "Sadko", "The Tale of Tsar Saltan" and "The Golden Cockerel". The theme of the interlude for the opera "The Tale of Tsar Saltan", which is called "Flight of the Bumblebee", became particularly popular.

Being a great teacher, Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov created a great composer's school. Among his students were about 200 musicians who comprised the pride of musical art of the 20th century".

On the Front, this First Day Cover (FDC), at left, shows a portrait of Rembrandt van Rijn and it titled "Rembrandt van Rijn - 350th Death Anniversary". 

On top right is affixed a 100 KGS postage stamp, which is cancelled with the Special Handstamp/postmark of Bishkek Head Office and the cancellation is dated "18.11.2019".

The size of the FDC is 162.0 mm x 114.0 mm and the number of this variant issued is 300 copies.

On the Back of the First Day Cover (FDC), the following description is given:

"Rembrandt Harmenszoon van Rijn (15.07.1606 - 04.10.1669) was a Dutch painter, draftsman and engraver. He is one of the most prominent representatives of the golden age of Dutch painting. His paintings "Danae", "The Night Watch", "The Return of the Prodigal Son" as well as numerous portraits and self-portraits, have become an important part of the world's cultural heritage. Rembrandt was a great master of Chiaroscuro, using it as a means of increasing spirituality and emotional saturation in his works.

During his lifetime, Rembrandt created about 350 paintings and 100 drawings, which were not fully appreciated by his contemporaries. It took humanity two centuries to realise how wonderful are the works of this truly great artist.

Rembrandt's work had the deepest impact on the development of the world's realistic art, and the artist has been rightly recognised as one of the most prominent painters of all time".

The Maximum(or Maxim) Card issued on Leonardo da Vinci, which was prepared for Kyrgyz Express Post's (KEP) participation in the "Veronafil exhibition" (Verona Philately Exhibition) in Italy in November 2019.

The cancellation of the Se-tenant (two stamps) is dated "22.11.2019".

The Size of this Maxim Card is 148.0 mm x 105.0 mm; the number issued is 150 Cards.
This face of the Maxim Card is inscribed "133 Veronafil 2019, Verona, Italy" and shows the logo of the exhibition.
