The Asian Games: is the largest multi-sport competition after the Olympic Games and one of the most prestigious events in the world of sports.

These Games are  organised by the Olympic Council of Asia, once every four years. The XVIII Asian Games will be held in Indonesia from 18.08.2018 to 02.09.2018.

For the first time, competitions in these games are being co-hosted by two cities - Jakarta, the Indonesian capital and Palembang, the capital of the province of South Sumatra.

Around 10,000 athletes from 45 Asian countries will compete for the highest awards in 40 different sports.

The Commemorative Stamps:

On 09.07.2018, two Kyrgyz Express Post stamps are being put into circulation titled "2018 Asian Games".

The First Day Cover (FDC) being issued on 09.07.2018.

It shows at left a few sports stadia/venues and is titled "XVIII Asian Games" and bears the inscription "Jakarta Palembang - 2018".

At top right are the two stamps of 100 KGS (showing water sports - Canoeing, Swimming, Yacht racing) and 150 KGS showing the sports of Cycling, Taekwondo, Golf and Volley-ball.  

A special cancellation on the FDC will be carried out at the Bishkek KEP Post Office on 09.07.2018.

The FDC size is C6 (162 mm x 114 mm). Printing Method: Full colour Offset; No. of FDCs issued: 400 copies; Endorsing Ink Colour: Black; FDC Designer: Vitaliu Pogolsa.

The Technical Specifications of this stamp issue are:

Paper: coated, gummed, 105 g/sq. m

Printing Method: Full-colour offset lithography

Stamps perforation: comb 14:14-1/2 

Stamp Size: 90.00 mm x 135.00 mm

Sheets Size: 90.00 mm x 108.00 mm

Collective Sheet size: 90.00 mm x 108.00 mm

Stamps are issued in sheetlets of 4 stamps. Stamps are also issued in collective mini-sheets of 2 stamps each (1 complete set) with a label in the centre. On the sheet borders there are names of the series in Kyrgyz and English languages. On the central label of the collective mini-sheet, the following sports are depicted - Baseball, Basketball, Rugby and Badminton. 

Quantity issued: 7,000 pieces each stamp, including the quantity of the collective mini-sheets - 2,000 pieces.

    1. Thanks, Krishnayya. This stamp set is very nicely designed and caught my eye immediately I received the notification. Kyrgyzstan has come up with very interesting stamps in the past too which are mostly from history - the Great Silk Route etc.and nature conservation - Birds of Kyrgyzstan etc.. thanks to one of my collector friends, I have managed to collect their Banknotes (called "Som") for my Banknote collection.
