The visitors to my blog from Ukraine, before the Russian aggression in Ukraine, were the fourth highest. After the War began over 100 days ago, the visitors from Ukraine dropped to zero, making the blog a "collateral damage/casualty" of the war.

Ukraine Commemorates the conflict against Russia Aggression on Coins:

The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) has announced the results of voting for the best design and creative works to honour the heroic resistance of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Ukrainian people against the Russian aggression. The designs have been selected through an International design competition:

1) Unity is Strength:

This Coin design created by Alina Maliuta (Ukraine)

The Obverse of this Coin  in the centre features Ukraine's small Coat of Arms surrounded by images that symbolise Ukraine's National Unity - people are holding hands tied together with a blue and yellow ribbon.

The Reverse of this Coin design features Ukraine's small Coat of Arms and the legend "Ukraine" above and the year of coin issue "2022" below.

2) Snake Island:

This coin design has been created by Vitalii Shevariov (Ukraine)

The Obverse of this Coin design features the famous "Snake Island" on which 13 Ukrainian border guards and soldiers of the Ukrainian Armed Forces when confronted with a Russian warship on the first day of the war refused to surrender. It bears the legend - "Snake Island" (above) and "Russian warship, go f--- yourself" (below).

The Reverse of this Coin shows a Ukrainian border guard standing on duty. Ukraine's blue and yellow flag is seen on a flagpole. Below is engraved Ukraine's small Coat of Arms.

The Obverse of this Coin shows against a stylised map - a plane and the legend -"Ukraine", along with Ukraine's small Coat of Arms.

The Reverse of this Coin depicts the legendary ace fighter pilot who shot down dozens of Russian fighter jets (reportedly some 45 to 50 Russian aircraft) and Kalibr cruise missiles in air combats over Kyiv. Above a legend reads - "Ghost of Kyiv".

4) Glory to the Heroes:

This coin design was created by Miroslav Hric (Slovak Republic/Czech Republic)

On the Obverse of this Coin are images of a female and two male defenders above a blue and yellow ribbon. Below is the legend - "Glory to the Heroes".

On the Reverse of this Coin is a composition depicting the battle between good and evil that is currently raging in Ukraine. Against the backdrop of the blue and yellow map of Ukraine is St.Micheal the Archangel, a symbol of the good, who is killing the devil - a symbol of evil. Above is a legend "Light will win over Darkness".

5) Ukraine is Homeland to the Heroes:

This coin design has been created by Mariia Padii (Ukraine)
