2527) “Love Your Dog” Drawing Contest 2021, Aruba: Drawing Contest 2021 organised by the National Planning Commission for the third consecutive year from 2019 onwards: Date of Stamp Set issued: 04.10.2022:

For the third consecutive year (from 2019 onwards), the National Plan commission, which addresses stray dogs issues, organised a drawing contest for children.

In 2019, the first drawing contest for primary school students about the "Dog Law" was organised.

This contest took place weeks after the National Plan, which addresses the stray dog problem, was announced. The theme for that year was the Dog law.

Last year (2020), a drawing and coloring contest was organized for kindergarten children till the third grade with a theme: “Your favourite pet”.

This was the third year that a drawing contest was organised for children through their drawings to express and learn about the Dog law. The deadline to submit the drawings was September 23, 2021.

The Goal/Objective:

The goal/objective of this drawing contest “Love Your Dog 2021” is to continue to raise awareness, especially among children, regarding the care of their pets. Raising awareness among children is essential for them to be responsible pet owners in the future.

Four themes:

Children were required to choose from any of the four themes for this contest. It was considered ideal by the organisers/judges if they incorporated topics of the dog law in their drawings. Only one drawing per participant was permitted.

The four themes were

- Bathe your dog.

- Play with your dog.

- Your dog as part of your family.

- Dog on a leash.

The drawings were required to be original, creative, and drawn by the child.

The participation was free and was only open for primary school students.

The reason why this year the kindergartens did not participate was that of all the winning drawings, Post Aruba N.V. was choosing a drawing of each theme as a stamp of Aruba for 2022.

The participants were to submit their participation form/entries until September 23, 2021, at the nearest MFA or mail it to specialprojectsaruba@gmail.com.

The Winners & the Prizes:

The winners of each school class were to receive their prizes. The committee encouraged children to participate in this contest for it to, once again, be successful.

The action committee received more than a thousand participation forms

On September 29, the judges chose 24 winners; for each school grade and theme, they chose a winner.

Given the talent displayed by the children, the judges decided to nominate for each class a runner-up.

Thirty children, each with one adult, received an invitation to receive their gift at the government building and take pictures with Prime Minister Evelyn Wever-Croes, Minister Ursell Arends, and Minister Endy Croes.

On World Animal Day, October 4, the committee announced the four drawings which figured on the four stamps for 2022. Post Aruba N.V. has used the drawings of four children as stamps for 2022.

The Stamps:

The above four Stamps of 220c each represent the winning entries in each category.
