1297) "Still Trapped", Cook Islands: A Silver 5 Dollars High Relief Coin minted by Smartminting Technology in another novel design brought out by the Coin Invest Trust (CIT) on behalf of Cook Islands in 2020:

In 2019, the Cook Islands had released their Silver Coin issue titled "Trapped" - which derived inspiration from Edward Munch's famous painting titled - "The Scream". The Coin as minted by Coin Invest Trust (CIT) on behalf of Cook Islands.

The "Trapped" Coin showed a face behind a membrane, with no apparent exit route. This coin was an extremely innovative Collector's Coin from an artistic point of view. It was more than a mere depiction of a reality, and expressed a feeling, addressed primeval fears and was an extremely popular product. The mintage of only 999 pieces had sold out very quickly.

Now a second coin has been released by the Cook Islands titled "Still Trapped". This coin issue has also been created by using the Smartminting technology - combining extremely precise structures on a high relief coin. To make the depiction look even more realistic, the highest points of the relief  were left bright by means of a masterly application of antique finish patina technique, making the person's fingertips seem to stretch the membrane to the point of rupture. The realism of the image is breathtaking and this coin creates very strong human emotion.

All in all, "Still Trapped" is a work of art in miniature. It is a testimony to our time, in which many persons feel trapped in their daily life despite the standard of living and the technological  comforts that we have achieved.

The Commemorative Coin:

The Reverse and Obverse of the 5 Dollars Silver Antique Finish Coin placed together

On the Reverse of the 5 Dollars Silver Antique Finish Coin is depicted a pair of hands desperately searching for reality/escape (read "a way out") behind an impermeable membrane/fabric which seems clamped over the coin's smooth edge..

On the periphery are the incused words - "TRAPPED" and "2020".

On the Obverse of the 5 Dollars Silver Antique Finish Coin is depicted an image of Queen Elizabeth II facing right.

The peripheral inscriptions are - "ELIZABETH II, COOK ISLANDS, 5 DOLLARS". Below the Queen's neck are the initials of the designer of her portrait "IRB" (standing for "Ian Rank-Broadley").

The specifications of this coin are:

    1. I found this series quite innovative and evocative of human emotions, when I came across the first coin last year, Trikha sahab. The Smartminting technology is now quite successful and the coins are sought-after.
