3518) "Brazilian statue of Christ the Saviour", Niue Island: Coin Series "New seven wonders of the world,": The fifth $50 (Fifty Dollars - NZD) Gold Coin minted by the Czech Mint presents the legendary monument: Date/Year of Coin issue: 10/2024:

In ancient times, a list of the Seven Wonders of the World was created - breathtaking sights that no ancient traveller could miss. None of the wonders have been preserved to this day with the exception of the Egyptian pyramids, so modern tourists have chosen the new Seven Wonders of the World for everyone to admire.

Gold coins bear the Roman Colosseum, the Mayan city of Chichén Itzá in Mexico, the Inca site of Machu Picchu in Peru, the Jordanian rock city of Petra, the Brazilian statue of Christ the Saviour, the Indian monument of the Taj Mahal and the Great Wall of China.

Brazilian statue of Christ the Saviour:

The fifth issue takes one to exotic Rio de Janeiro. The Corcovado hill rises above this Brazilian city and on it stands Jesus Christ himself.

Well, at least his gigantic statue, which is a place of pilgrimage and a tourist attraction. The authors attributed the Savior's outstretched arms to symbolise peace and acceptance of all who come to Rio. Christ's open arms are truly magnificent - the span of the arms is 28 meters.

The Czech Mint has released the colossal statue in three different variants:

The first variant, weighing one troy ounce, is housed in an elegant leather case.

A second variant weighing one-tenth of a troy ounce is sealed into a special collector card.

Investors will especially appreciate the third option. The whole package contains one troy ounce of gold, but divided into ten identical coins. At the moment when one wants to cash out only a part of your investment, one can simply break up the packaging and sell it in pieces...

The Corcovado hill towers over the Brazilian city of Rio de Janeiro and Jesus Christ himself stands on it.

Or at least his gigantic statue. There was talk of building a similar monument as early as the mid-19th century, but it was not until 1922 - on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Brazil's independence from Portugal - that work finally began.

Originally, the Saviour was supposed to hold a cross in one hand and a globe in the other, but in the end, the designers gave him outstretched hands, which symbolise peace and acceptance of all people who come to Rio.

Christ's open arms are truly magnificent, with an arm span of 28 metres. Not counting the 8 metre high pedestal, the whole statue measures 30 metres.

The weight of the statue is also impressive - the head alone weighs 36 tonnes out of a total of 635 tonnes.

The soapstone-covered reinforced concrete structure was unveiled in 1931 and quickly became a pilgrimage site, a tourist attraction and a symbol of Rio and Brazil.

For a long time it was the largest statue of Jesus in the world, but although it has been surpassed by other Christian monuments, it is still undoubtedly the most famous.

This is evidenced by its inclusion in the list of the new Seven Wonders of the World. To this day, it is the largest art deco statue. However, the location and size of the iconic structure has its drawbacks - the statue is struck by lightning six times a year…

 The Coin:

The Reverse of the $50 (Fifty Dollars - NZD_) Coin, which is the work of the medal maker Ludmila Kracíková, DiS., presents the actual image of the the Pyramid, supplemented with the English inscription "CHRIST THE REDEEMER".

The Obverse of the $50 (Fifty Dollars - NZD) Coin.

All the new Seven Wonders of the World appear on the obverse side, which is common to the entire cycle.

These are the Brazilian statue of Christ the Saviour, the Jordanian rock city of Petra, the Mayan city of Chichén Itzá in Mexico, the Roman Colosseum, the Indian monument of the Taj Mahal, the Inca seat of Machu Picchu in Peru and the Great Wall of China.

As the coins of the Czech Mint are issued with the foreign license of the island of Niue, they also bear its national emblem, the nominal value of "50 DOLLARS (NZD)" and the year of issue "2024" on this face.
