Excerpted from my Post on the first Coin  in the Series titled "Trapped" by Cook Islands:

"Trapped" was a new design concept, which embodies the universal nightmare and fear of being trapped - physically or mentally, with no way out. This coin alludes to the primal fears of humans beings.

The oppressive image of a trapped person is skilfully depicted on this silver coin through the employment of Smartminting technology to bring about an antique finish texture, thereby creating an image of a person screaming through a stretched fabric sheet. The coin's highlight is not what is engraved on the surface, but "what appears to loom beneath/inside".

What is the worst nightmares a person can have? One of them is likely that of being able to move, for example - being stuck in quicksand; being separated from the rest of the world by an impenetrable membrane.

"Trapped" (2019) : A coin for connoisseurs:

This coin is a numismatic piece of art standing in an old tradition, with an antique quality finish. It takes inspiration from Edward Munch's famous painting "The Scream" and also picks on images of the first Star Wars Trilogy in one scene where Han Solo is frozen in carbonite.

I am reminded of the Hanged Man Card in my Tarot Deck library, where the person hangs upside down, his one foot loosely bound by a rope on a tree branch. He does not know what to do or what steps to take to mitigate his circumstances. This card when it comes in a reading symbolises a period of uncertainty, where the querent fells totally lost and directionless.

Another Tarot Card which symbolises this helplessness is the Hermit Card, where the Hermit is shown standing on a vast expanse office, apparently rendered immobile and not knowing which direction to take.

When either of these two cards comes in a reading, it is time for the querent to pause and meditate on his situation and on the way forward, without getting into  a panic.

The second Coin in the Series was titled: Still Trapped (The Cook Islands (2020):

The "Trapped" Coin showed a face behind a membrane, with no apparent exit route. This coin was an extremely innovative Collector's Coin from an artistic point of view. It was more than a mere depiction of a reality, and expressed a feeling, addressed primeval fears and was an extremely popular product. The mintage of only 999 pieces had sold out very quickly.

Now a second coin has been released by the Cook Islands titled "Still Trapped". This coin issue has also been created by using the Smartminting technology - combining extremely precise structures on a high relief coin. To make the depiction look even more realistic, the highest points of the relief  were left bright by means of a masterly application of antique finish patina technique, making the person's fingertips seem to stretch the membrane to the point of rupture. The realism of the image is breathtaking and this coin creates very strong human emotion.

All in all, "Still Trapped" is a work of art in miniature. It is a testimony to our time, in which many persons feel trapped in their daily life despite the standard of living and the technological  comforts that we have achieved.

Now for the third Coin in the series titled "TRAP ATTACK":

The story continues. And still we do not know who or what is behind the stretched fabric sheet – the curtain of fear.

The breathtaking image enabled by the enhanced Smartminting® technology makes us all witnesses to an oppressive and mysterious attack.

Another great example of a highlight that is not defined by what is added to the coin surface but by what lies beneath. The incredible detail of the stretched fabric combined with ultra-realistic sloping relief make for a coin that really captures the imagination.

Struck from 1 ounce of pure silver in an antique finish and limited to only 999 pieces for the world, we fully expect this issue to sell out instantly like the two previous editions did.

The Reverse of the $5 (Five Dollars) Silver Coin shows two faces trapped behind a membrane, not knowing how to escape the restrained atmosphere.

The Obverse of the $5 (Five Dollars) Silver Coin shows an effigy of Queen Elizabeth II facing right, designed by Ian Rank-Broadley, whose initials "IRB" appear below the Queen's neck.

The peripheral inscriptions read - "ELIZABETH II . COOK ISLANDS. 5 DOLLARS".
