1393) "Canis Lupus", Estonia: The first of the two Euro Zone circulation coins to be released in spring 2021 by the Bank of Estonia,  features Estonia's National Animal - the Wolf:

The  Bank of Estonia has unveiled two designs for release in spring 2021, one of which features Estonia's National Animal - the Wolf (Canis lupus) . The Bank of Estonia operates as part of the European Union's (EU) Euro-system of banks which are a part of the Euro-zone and is entitled to issue two separate commemorative 2-Euro circulation coins every year.

One of the two coins to be released in 2021, depicts Estonia's National animal - the Wolf. The winning design was submitted by Maria Meos, a graphic designer from Tallinn, from 60 design entries submitted by participants/designers from across the world.

The design shows a howling wolf standing on a rocky outcrop. As the wolf is a forest animal, the background to the design shows a classic Estonia pine forest under a starry night sky, as this is when the wolves are mostly heard.

The Reverse of the 2 Euro Circulation Coin shows a howling wolf underneath a starry sky, standing in a pine forest.

The Obverse of the 2 Euro Circulation Coin would bear a common design seen on all circulation coins of the European Zone.
