The Reverse of the 5 Pounds coin commemorating the Bicentenary of the death of George III (Born 04.06.1738 - Reign: 25.10.1760 - 29.01.1820 (death)

He was one of Great Britain's most notable monarchs and his reign was both tumultuous and eventful.

His reign life and reign was longer than any of his predecessors, were marked by a series of military conflicts involving his kingdoms, much of the rest of Europe and places farther afield in Africa, the Americas and Asia. Early in his reign, Britain defeated France in the "Seven Year's War" becoming the dominant European power in North America.

His period saw sweeping changes including the loss of the American Colonies in the "American War of Independence" (1976), the French Revolution and "Napoleonic Wars" (1793-1815), concluded with the defeat of Napoleon at Waterloo and the acquisition of many Overseas territories with formed the foundation of Britain's 19th Century Empire.

In the later part of his life, George III had recurrent and eventually permanent mental illness. It seems that he had a bipolar disorder or the blood disease porphyria. After a final relapse in 1810, a regency was set up, with his eldest son ruling as Prince Regent, who ultimately ascended the throne as George IV.

George III legacy encompassed several discoveries and progress during his time - from science to agriculture and industry.

Two centuries after his death, he is being commemorated by Royal Mint, UK for his contribution in making Britain more prosperous and democratic than ever before. Surrounding George III's head are the symbols of his kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, framed by his crown.

The Reverse of the 50 Pence coin commemorating the XXXIII Olympiad in Tokyo, Japan

The next Olympiad in 2020, will be the second time that Tokyo has hosted the Summer Olympics, the first being in 1964.

The Reverse of a Two Pounds coin celebrating the 75th Anniversary of Victory in Europe (1945 - 2020)

One of the most important days in both British & European history - VE Day (meaning "Victory in Europe"), celebrates its 75th Anniversary this year.

The 8th of May 1945 saw the beginning of the endof the Second World War, the six-year conflict that cost millions of lives and shaped the future of countries and continents.

Following news of the Third Reich's surrender, spontaneous street parties and celebrations across Britain lasted long into the night.

75 years later, this 2 Pound coin remembers those unrestrained outpourings of pure joy, leading to the first steps towards a lasting peace.

The Reverse of the Two Pound Coin celebrates the 400th Anniversary of the "Voyage of the Mayflower"(1620-2020)

The 400th Anniversary of the extraordinary voyage of the Mayflower is being celebrated this year. The long dangerous journey that took 102 men, women and children from Plymouth, England to Provincetown, Massachusetts, USA and led to the founding of one of the first European settlements in the New World.

Following their first harvest in 1621, America's original Thanksgiving feast was held. For many citizens of the USA, it is a journey that sits at the ideological foundations of the country, although, America declared its independence only after another 150 years during the reign of George III.

The spirit of the pilgrims still remains a part of the annual celebrations in the USA held every third Thursday in November since 1938. The design shows the Mayflower ship and the dual dates - 1620 and 2020.

The Reverse of the Two Pound Coin depicting the Centenary Anniversary of Christie's first novel - "The Mysterious Affair at Styles"

To mark the Centenary Anniversary of when Agatha Christie, the "Queen of Crime" published her first novel "The Mysterious Affair at Styles", she is being  commemorated on this 2 Pounds coin for the first time.

Having sold over two billion copies of her stories, she is considered to be one of the most successful authors in the world. This coin celebrates her legacy of defining the "golden age of crime fiction".

The design on this coin shows items taken from several stories of the famed wordsmith, set on puzzle pieces, representing the mystery genre.

A dagger, bottle of poison and pistol among objects shown, along with the author's pen are surrounded by the legend "100 YEARS OF MYSTERY . 1920-2020". The design also bears her signature.

    1. Ha, ha, No not yet. A BREXIT coin came out from a private mint a couple of years ago. Now despite the confidence exuded by Boris J., everyone is rather wary of how the future pans out.
