This Coin Series of coloured Titanium coins features the wildlife of British Overseas Territories (BOT).
Two distinctive animals native to the South Atlantic - the Queen Triggerfish and the Macaroni Penguin are featured on the coins of Ascension Island and of South Georgia and South Sandwich Islands respectively, both variants having been minted by the Pobjoy Mint, UK.
The Queen Triggerfish from Ascension Island:

The Queen Triggerfish (Balistes vetula) is a reef dwelling triggerfish found in the Atlantic Ocean. In the Eastern Atlantic, it is foundin Ascension, Cape Verde and Azores. The large oval-shaped fish is so named due to its unique spines on its anterior dorsal fins which are used to lock the fish into a crevice during the night. The first spine locks and the second spine unlocks, like a trigger. This prevents predators from pulling them free or swallowing the fish.
The Queen Triggerfish also has special membranes which are used to produce a throbbing sound which warns other fish to stay away.
The species is generally shy and will move away from divers if followed. However, during breeding season, they will aggressively defend their nests and they can inflict a nasty bite as they have strong jaws with strong incisor-like specialised teeth which are used to chisel holes into the hard-shells of their prey.
The coins are available in coloured purple Titanium and also in Uncirculated Cupro-nickel variants.

The Obverse of the 1 Crown Titanium Coin shows an effigy of Queen Elizabeth II facing right, which is an exclusive design of the Pobjoy Mint, UK. The initials "PM" appear below the Queen's neck. The peripheral inscriptions are - "ASCENSION ISLAND", "ELIZABETH II", "2019".
The Obverse of the 1 Crown Titanium Coin shows an effigy of Queen Elizabeth II facing right, which is an exclusive design of the Pobjoy Mint, UK. The initials "PM" appear below the Queen's neck. The peripheral inscriptions are - "ASCENSION ISLAND", "ELIZABETH II", "2019".
The Reverse of the 1 Crown Titanium Coin shows a Queen Triggerfish facing and moving right in its natural habitat.
Due to the difficulty of striking Titanium coins and the fact that Titanium reacts differently with every strike, each coin is technically different from all others. There is also a lined effect that is present on the coins which is unique to this metal.
