897) Special Commemorative circulating 2 Euro Coins with the theme Economic & Political Institutions being issued by Belgium, Germany and Luxembourg in January 2019:

The European Commission (EU) has announced the themes and designs for three additional circulation commemorative 2 Euro Commemorative Coins being issued by Belgium, Germany and Luxembourg for 2019.

The Reverses of the three commemorative circulation coins from Belgium, Germany and Luxembourg presented against a background of the 12 Europa Stars representing the 12 nations which had originally joined the European Union (EU)

The themes for these three coins is - economic and political institutions.


The 2 Euro circulation commemorative coin from Belgium celebrates the 25th anniversary of the European Monetary Institute (EMI). This coin will feature a portrait of Alexandre Lamfalussy - the first President of the EMI at right, with his name engraved below. At left, the abbreviation "EMI" is engraved with the year "2014" above it (representing the year when the EMI was set up/established).

The EMI's main focus was to establish the European System of Central Banks, including the European Central Bank and the Euro-Currency.

This coin has a maximum mintage of 155,000 pieces and will be released in 01/2019.


The German 2 Euro circulation commemorative coin marks the 70th Anniversary of the Bundesrat's founding (which is the legislative body in Germany).

This coin shows the Bundesrat building in the centre. The upper half of the coin's inner section includes the Mint mark of the respective mint (A,D,F,G or J), the designer's initials and the year of issue "2019".

The lower half of the coin's inner section contains the inscription "BUNDESRAT" and the issuing country code of Germany "D".

30.0 million or 30,000,000 pieces will be issued 6.0 million pieces per each mint. The coin is scheduled for release end 01/2019.


The Luxembourg 2 Euro circulation commemorative coin marks the 100th Anniversary of the accession to the throne of Grand Duchess Charlotte. The inscription on the coin translates as - "Centenary of the ascension to the throne of Grand Duchess Charlotte".

This coin shows photograph-like images of the Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Charlotte. The inscription on the coin translates as "Centenary of the ascension to the throne of Grand Duchess Charlotte".

The mintage of this coin is 500,000 pieces and it is due for release in 01/2019.

Each 2 Euro ringed-bimetallic coin has a copper-nickel core and copper-aluminium-nickel ring. Each coin weighs 8.5 grams and measures 25.75 mm in diameter.

Under this scheme, each country of the EU can issue two different circulation commemorative designs every year with designs of their own.

5) The Baroque & Rococo Era in France: The Hall of Mirrors, Rococo Element of the Palace of Versailles, Philosopher Voltaire & the Dancing Kind, representing Louis XIV: "The Baroque and Rococo Periods" (Theme of 2018 issues) "Europa Coin Programme" ot the Eurostar Programme" depicted on 4 Gold and 2 Silver coins issued by the Monnaie de Paris in 2018

6) Special Commemorative circulating 2 Euro Coins issued by Belgium, Germany and Luxembourg with the themes of Economic and Political Institutions
