Born on 31.10.1795 in London, John Keats is one of the greatest English poets and a key figure in the Romantic Movement. He has become the epitome of the young, doomed poet.

During his short life, Keats wrote some of the most beautiful and timeless poems in the English language.

Among his greatest achievements in his sequence of six lyric odes, written between 03/1819 and 09/1819, when he was just 24 years old.

Tragically he passed away having been afflicted by tuberculosis in 02/1821.

The Stamp Set:

The Six Stamps Set issued on John Keats' 200th Anniversary of his six famous Odes - Ode to a Grecian Urn (48p), Ode on Indolence (65p), Ode on Melancholy (66p), Ode to a Nightingale (80p), Ode to Psyche (90p) and Ode to Autumn (98p).

The First Day Cover (FDC), at lower left,  shows an image of John Keats on a "Grecian Urn", with laurels on both sides. His signature "John Keats" appears below the Urn with the title of the FDC - "The 1819 Odes - 200th Anniversary". At lower right is mentioned "GUERNSEY POST FIRST DAY COVER" (Guernsey Post issues postage stamps on behalf of Alderney Island).

The Special Cancellation Post Mark is of Guernsey Post Office and shows an Urn in the centre. The FDC Cancellation date is "24.07.2019".

The Cover of a "PRESTIGE BOOKLET" shows an Urn on which Keats' image is superimposed. The Urn is placed on sheets of paper on which Keats wrote his Odes/poems, along with an ink-pot and a pen.
