1066) Did You Know Series (46): "Climbing" several Mountain Peaks of the Himalayan Ranges all at the same time, without "Mountain Climbing Gear" is now possible: The Himalayan Mountain Peaks and Ranges displayed as panoramic  photographs on two beautiful Ceramic Mugs:

Did you know that it is now possible to "climb" several Mountain Peaks of the Himalayan Mountains all at the same time, without having any Mountain Climbing Gear/equipment?

Yes, indeed. There are chartered flights which take one over the Himalayan Ranges in a way that one has the exhilaration of seeing several mountain peaks of the Himalayas all at once, and what's more, the mountain peaks are several hundred metres below you. One of the quickest and best ways to "experience the Himalayan peaks" is by flying close to them. One can overfly the Himalayas - in fixed-wing flights, helicopter charter flights, Ultra-light aircraft and para-gliding et al.

My sister Raka, who was visiting us in Pune from Lucknow presented us with these beautiful mugs which show images of her trip in one such chartered flight which her group of medical doctors took in their periodical holiday get-togethers - this time in Kathmandu, Nepal.

The chartered flight to Mount Everest is about one hour long and hovers over the peaks as one takes  photographs - one is even permitted to go singly into the cockpit to take in a panoramic view of the Himalayan snow-clad heights/peaks.

A representative chart showing the peaks overflown in the chartered flight:

The tour takes one over the panoramic majesty of the Mahalungur Himalayan landscape. A close encounter with Mount Everest (8848 metres) is once in a lifetime experience and what's more - one didn't have to trek the route, with the vagaries of the weather, winding and treacherous routes thrown in etc. It is a fabulous/fascinating sight of some of the most majestic snow-capped peaks framed over a backdrop of a beautiful sky covered with clouds.

The group overflew about 23 Himalayan peaks, East of Kathmandu. The flight takes one over the peaks of
Mt. Nuptse and Mt. Lhotse (the second highest in the range (at 8516 metres or 27,940 feet).

The mountains of Shartse, Baruntse, Kanchungtse and Makalu, can be seen on a clear day. Mt. Everest (Sagarmatha National Park) stands in all its majesty below the flight at a height of 8848 metres.

On the other side of Everest is Ama Dablam (6856 metres), Puma  Ri (7161 metres), the Gyachung Kang (7952 metres) and far away in the distance Cho Oyu (at a majestic height of 8188 metres).

Some of the mountain peaks covered included in the sight-seeing are:

- Ganesh Himal - 7422 metres (24,350 feet)

- Manaslu Dhaulagiri - 8163 metres (26,781 feet)

- Langlang lirung - 7227 metres (23734 feet)

    1. The docs got a hefty discount because they booked the whole flight/charter. I think it was called Shree Airlines.
