This Stamp Pack of 10 First Class Stamps gives a detailed overview of the defining characteristics of UK's Birds of Prey, including a variety of species, wing shapes and specifications of each featured Bird of Prey.
The First Day Cover (FDC) is titled "Birds of Prey" (at left bottom) and features a Merlin above the title.

The stamp set includes 10 stamps featuring the White-tailed Eagle (Haliaeetus albicilla), Merlin (Falco subbuteo), Hobby (Falco Subbuteo), Buzzard (Buteo buteo), Golden Eagle (Aquila chrysaetos), Kestrel (Falco tinnunculus), Goshawk (Accipiter nisus), Red Kite (Milvus milvus), Peregrine Falcon (Falco peregrinus).   

 The stamps are affixed at top right as two horizontal se-tenant strips of five First Class stamps each.

The Special Cancellation Handstamp/Postmark is inscribed "First Day of Issue, Royal Mail, Edinburgh , 04.04.2019" and features a Golden Eagle in the centre swooping down to strike its prey.

The First Day  Envelope (FDE) background carries an image of the Merlin at left and is titled "Birds of Prey, Royal Mail First Day Cover.


Birds of Prey Presentation Pack carries the stamps, and a detailed description of the birds included in this stamp set. The 10 Stamps are arranged as two horizontal se-tenant strips of five First Class stamps.

The Golden Eagle (Aquila chrysaetos) stamp of First Class value.

This very large eagle catches fish or sea birds with a low, slow approach.

The Kestrel (Falco tinnunculus) Stamp of First Class value.

About two decades ago, the Kestrel was the most common raptor in the UK, but its numbers are now in a decline.

The Red Kite (Milvus milvus) Stamp of First class value.


By 1903, the Red Kite had been persecuted close to extinction, but there are now around 900 pairs in Wales and they can be seen soaring together in many places across the UK.
