1104) Austria: "Adventures of the First Crusade - Knights Tales": The second coin in the 5-Coin Series to be issued by the Austrian Mint, features Godfrey of Buillion (1060 A.D. to 1100 A.D.), one of the leaders of the First Crusade and the coin's theme is "Spirit of Adventure":

This Collector Coin Album will present the Middle ages and the world of knights through detailed illustrations and in-depth historical information.

A rigorously researched, historically accurateand visually enthralling guide to both the darkness and light of the Middle Ages (which was a dangerous chapter in European history), the five coin album will look at everyday life, childhood and youth during the Middle Ages.

It will also explain the medieval monetary system, the Crusades, the importance of castles and fortresses and the concept of chivalry. In the Age of chivalry, high-born warriors known as knights rode into battle on horseback dressed in full armour. The Code of Chivalry was a combination of the warrior ethos, piety, nobility and gallantry. It will be like a travel back in time to a bygone age that was notorious for being bloody and brutal.

The battle skills of knights will also be explained, as will be songs and ballads that were popular at that time, not to mention the link between Robin Hood and the huge ransom paid for the release of King Richard "The Lionheart" of England in 1194 to Austria.

The album/coin series will contain amazing facts and detailed well-known historical facts.

The Second Coin in the Series:

The Mint of Austria has brought out the second coin in the 5-coin series, which focusses on "adventure" and the era in which the mint itself was founded as it celebrates the 825th Anniversary of its establishment. 

Godfrey of Bouillon (1060 A.D. - 1100 A.D.):

He was one of the leaders of the First crusade and epitomised the "spirit of adventure".

Having joined the First Crusade in 1095 A.D., Godfrey and an army of crusaders travelled along the Rhine and Danube Rivers, taking different routes to get to Constantinople, where they linked up once again. The Crusaders consisted of an army numbering about 50,000 soldiers, of which 7,000 were knights.

After three tumultuous years, the rest of the Crusaders made it to Jerusalem in the summer of 1099. Following a siege that lasted a month, they conquered the Jerusalem Citadel, killing most of its inhabitants in retribution.

The first ruler of the Kingdom of Jerusalem established in the Southern Levant by Godfrey of Bouillon was Baldwin I (1060s A.D. - 1118 A.D.) also known as Baldwin of Boulogne and the first count of Edessa from 1098 A.D. 1100 A.D. His rule as the first King of Jerusalem was from 1099, until his death. The kingdom lasted nearly 200 years from 1099 A.D.  until 1291 A.D.

Godfrey of Bouillon who died in Jerusalem in 1100 A.D., was also the first to use the cross of Jerusalem in his personal crest. The kingdom's Coat of Arms featured a golden cross potent on a silver background surrounded by a smaller Greek cross in each quadrant.

Although the geo-political entity of the Kingdom of Jerusalem has long disappeared, the title of King of Jerusalem survived the many hundreds of years and was inherited by many actual European monarchs. The title still exists today although in a purely ceremonial or symbolic capacity.

The current holder of the title of King of Jerusalem is held by King Filipe VI of Spain, who ascended the Spanish throne in 2015.

The Obverse and Reverse of the 10 Euro Silver Proof Coin placed together

The Obverse of the $10 (Ten dollar) Coin shows an image of Godfrey of Bouillon dressed in full armour, battle axe in hand. The Cross of Jerusalem is displayed in the centre of the coin design.

On top is mentioned the denomination of the coin - "10 EURO" and towards the bottom is mentioned the country name - "REPUBLIK OSTERREICH" and the year of issue "2019".

The Reverse of the $10 (Ten Dollar) coin shows a beautiful detailed depiction of a knighthood being conferred by a King to a kneeling squire in the form of the accolade also known as a dubbing ceremony.

The design elements on this coin are identical to that of the 10 Euro Silver Proof.

The Proof Coins are housed in a Presentation Case and come with a Serialised Certificate of Authenticity (COA). In addition, to the technical information, the Certificate will also explain the design concept and minting quality.

Denomination: 10 Euro; Metal Composition: .925 Fineness Sterling Silver (Ag); Weight: 16.8 grams; Diameter: 32.0 mm; Coin Quality: Brilliant Uncirculated (BU); Edge: Smooth; Maximum Mintage: 30,000 pieces; Mint: Austrian Mint: Year of issue: 2019.

The Brilliant Uncirculated Coins are presented in a blister pack.

The specifications of the 10 Euro Copper Coin are:
