This stamp featuring the Finnish Flag was created through a design competition organised by Posti (Finland Post) in cooperation with Grafia (Association of Visual Communication Designers in Finland) and the Finnish Illustration Association in 2019.

The winner of the competition - Ville Tietavainen - used the Finnish landscape as a starting point for his design.

The Finnish Flag is considered to be a symbol of lakes, snow, blue sky and clouds. The design created by Ville presents a fresh, new perspective on the blue cross, highlighting its dignified nature. The varnish on the stamp brings out the impression of reflection, that the designer had sought to create.

In the stamp, half of the Finnish Flag is reflected on the mirror-like surface of a still or frozen lake, forming a blue cross.

A single no-value indicator Stamp reflecting half the Finnish Flag on a still or frozen lake surface.

The First Day Cover (FDC) carries the reflection across the background of the Cover. At top right is affixed the no-value indicator Stamp issued, cancelled with the special Handstamp/Postmark inscribed -

"FI HELSINKI, ENSIPAIVA, 06.05.2020".

The Blue Reflection Stamp Sheet (SS) has 10 no-value indicator stamps.
