1029) Belgium, Netherlands and Luxembourg (BENELUX): National Airports Theme: A new collaborative Mint-set brought out in 2019 which includes all the circulating coins of the BENELUX region and a medal with the 2019 theme - Air travel":

This new 2019 dated Mint sets featuring the Euro circulation coins of the BENELUX region have been brought together in a new presentation set, which is a collaborative effort of each of the monetary authorities of Belgium, Netherlands and Luxembourg.

The new set which is part of an on-going combined presentation since the introduction of a single currency, has brought together all of the Euro-denominated circulation coins of Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg - known collectively as the BENELUX region.

The theme for 2019 - Air Travel:

The theme for the 2019-dated coins is air travel and the special Cupro-nickel medal included in the set focusses on all three national airports of the region.

The Obverse features a map with the airports Amsterdam Schiphol, Brussels Zaventem and Aeroport de Luxembourg Findel - with markings of their actual locations.

The Reverse features an image of a tailfin of a jet plane with a common insignia representing the BENELUX region - a heraldic griffin rampant which is relevant to all three country's crest or Coat of Arms.

The inside pages of the Coin Album show a description of the coins, on page two, with the 2019 medal with the theme Air Travel placed in the centre and the Euro circulating coins of each of the 3 countries - Belgium, Netherlands and Luxembourg, which collectively are called the "BENELUX Region"

The currently circulating coins of each country are included from 1 Euro Cent to 2 Euros for a total of 24 pieces (8 coins for each country) and have been minted by the Royal Dutch Mint on behalf of their respective treasuries.

Belgium: Depicted on the Obverse of all denominations on the National side is a right-facing King Philippe with his monogram placed to the left of his portrait. These coins were first introduced into circulation in 2014, following King Philippe's accession to the Belgium throne in the previous year (2013).

Netherlands:  Depicted on the Obverse of all denominations on the National side is a right-facing abstract portrait of King Willem Alexander, with text placed to the right (on the 2 & 1 Euro coins) or centred over his portrait (on the 50 cents coin). These coins were introduced into circulation in 2014 following King Willem Alexander's accession to the Dutch throne in 2013.

Luxembourg: Depicted on the Obverse of all denominations on the National side is a right-facing abstract portrait of Grand Duke Henri with text placed to the left (on the 2 & 1 Euro coins). These coins were introduced into circulation in 2002 with the adoption of the single Euro currency in the same year.
