1025) 2019 XVI Pacific Games, Samoa, being held in Samoa from 07.07.2019-20.07.2019: A Commemorative $10 (10 Tala) Polymer Banknote released by the Central Bank of Samoa on 06.06.2019:

The Central Bank of Samoa has issued a $10 (Tala) Polymer Banknote on 06.06.2019 which commemorate the XVI Pacific Games 2019 being held from 07.07.2019 to 20.07.2019.

This Banknote is the first such issue in which environmental impact was a consideration in its printing/production. The Banknote design also celebrates the youth of Samoa and the Nation's sporting legacy. Their stories of daily life and the realisation of their sporting dreams are told through images placed on the Banknote.

The Back of the $10 Banknote printed in a vertical orientation

The Banknote has been designed and printed by the Banknote and Security form major De La Rue and is also the first Samoan Banknote with a horizontal face and a vertical orientation Back.

The Security Features which are easy to recognise and aim to deter counterfeiting, include:

- the Pacific Games logo depicted as a clear window with colour flames also in the clear window.

- De La Rue's MASK feature next to the window appears as a plain printed green pattern, when held up to the light.

- the number "10" appears as a pattern of raised dots as an assist to the visually impaired users.

Carbon Neutral printing/production:

The Central Bank of Samoa and De La Rue have coordinated with Carbon Footprint Ltd. to make this Banknote Carbon Neutral by offsetting the emissions from the production used through funding an equivalent carbon dioxide saving elsewhere. For this Banknote, the carbon impact of both the materials and manufacturing process have been calculated and offset by supporting a high-quality power generation project in Indonesia.

This is a first for both the Central Bank of Samoa and De La Rue

The commemorative $10 (Ten Tala) Banknotes will circulate with the regular 10-Tala Banknotes as legal tender.
