919) "The Sun": The Earth and Beyond Coin Series": Royal Australian Mint (RAM) issues the third and final coin in the three-coin Series, a Silver Coloured Five (AUD) Dollars Concave-shaped (Domed) Coin on 03.02.2019:

The Royal Australian Mint (RAM) has released its third and final silver collector coin, which is a part of their three-coin Series titled "The Earth and Beyond" that looks at space travel and the wonders of the heavens. The first two coins in this Series were titled - "The Earth" and "Moon" as they are seen from space.

The third and last coin in the Coin Series celebrates the Sun - the heart of our Solar System and the energy provider to all life on Earth.

The convex shape of the Earth and Beyond Coins adds depth and accuracy to the design. The Royal Australian Mint has for the first time has applied colour on the convex surface of the three coin-set,  as such, each coin presents a realistic and beautifully coloured depiction - in the instant case, of the Sun, on a domed convex surface.

The Reverse of the $5 (AUD) Silver Coin depicting the Sun

The "2019" dated $5 (AUD) Silver Proof Sun Coin is the third in the coin series.

The peripheral inscriptions are - "THE EARTH AND BEYOND - THE SUN - FIVE DOLLARS".

The Sun is the heart of our solar system. It is a glowing ball of gas around which the planets orbit. Energy from the Sun does more than just power our solar cells - it powers all of life on Earth.

Together with the convex shape, which adds depth and accuracy to the design, colour has been applied on the convex surface - a first for this particular shape - resulting in a more realistic depiction of the Sun that is also enhanced on a domed surface.
The Obverse of the $5 (AUD) Silver Coin

The Obverse shows an effigy of Queen Elizabeth II facing right designed by Ian Rank Broadley whose initials "IRB" appear below the Queen's neck. The effigy is surrounded by the eight planets in their orbits in our solar system. The Central motif represents the Sun.

The peripheral inscriptions are "ELIZABETH II - AUSTRALIA - ONE OUNCE FINE SILVER".

    1. It is indeed, Rambhau. This series had only 3 coins. I wish they had covered all the planets.
