About Europa 2022 - Stamps:

EUROPA Stamps are special stamps issued by European postal administrations. 

They bear the official EUROPA logo, a PostEurop registered trademark under the aegis of PostEurop in which Europe is the central theme. 

EUROPA stamp issues are among the most collected and most popular stamps in the world and have been issued for over 60 years.

Every year a new theme is assigned by PostEurop and all participating countries issue stamps with their own interpretation of the theme. The theme for 2022 is "Stories and Myths".

Slovenská pošta, a. s. (Slovak Post)  has issued on 02.05.2022, EUROPA stamps depicting a Legend from Slovakian folklore .

The Legend/Myths - Background:

A number of the motifs of traditional folk tales and legends have been preserved thanks to the efforts made by members of Ľudovít Štúr’s generation to collect folklore. 

The first to publish a selection of them was Ján Francisci-Rimavský in his book Slovenskje povesťi (Slovak Legends) in 1845.

 According to the notions of the Romantic collectors of the 19th century, folk legends and tales supposedly carried the features of a “national spirit”. 

Although Štúr’s adherents denied that the tales had any historical factual value, nevertheless, they projected onto them their belief in the future of the Slovak nation...

The EUROPA - 2022 Stamps:

The EUROPA - 2022 stamp of 1.50 Euro

The First Day Cover (FDC) bears an image of the drawing of a character from the Slovakian folklore  while the postmark shows a stylised drawing of a dragon in the forest.

The special Postmark on the EUROPA - 2022 stamp issued shows the design in the centre. The Cancellation is of Bratislava Post Office and the date of Cancellation is - "02.05.2022".
