Silver Ducats, as Trade Coins, are commissioned by the Dutch Ministry of Finance and are issued as Collector Coins.
The second coin to be released under the Dutch Castles Coin Series" depicts the "Heeswijk Castle". This coin continues with the legacy of Field Marshal Godard van Reede (1644-1703), who is portrayed as an armoured knight on this coin.

The second coin to be released under the Dutch Castles Coin Series" depicts the "Heeswijk Castle". This coin continues with the legacy of Field Marshal Godard van Reede (1644-1703), who is portrayed as an armoured knight on this coin.
About Heeswijk Castle:
In the wooded area of Hertogenbosch (North Brabant, The Netherlands), Heeswijk Castle is a prominent landmark.
The Castle reflects almost a thousand years of power, pride and culture representing the elite from the Dutch Province of North-Brabant.
Heeswijk Castle has a turbulent history which dates back to 1080 AD. It started out as a wooden stronghold, became an impressive fort and eventually turned out into a dignified country seat. The Castle was regularly besieged, damaged, restored and remodelled.
The 17th Century AD, which was the century of the 80 Years' War in the Netherlands, was one of the most illustrious periods in its history.
In 1672, in Dutch history, known as the "Rampiaar" ("disaster year), it was in Heeswijk Castle that the French King Louis XIV and the English envoys signed the plan to divide the conquered Netherlands.
In the 19th Century AD, the estate and castle were bought by Baron Van den Bogaerde van Terbrugge. He and his sons transformed Heeswijk Castle into a luxury and romantic palace and filled it with an extensive collection of artworks and antiques.
After the passing away of the last baron, the Castle was turned into a museum. Presently, visitors can explore the halls, corridors, chambers, basements and towers etc. Heeswijk Castle is one of the most visited castle-museums in the Netherlands and Flanders.

The Reverse and Obverse of the Silver Ducat Trade Coin seen side-by-side
On the Obverse of the Silver Ducat Collector Coin is seen the design, which is common to all coins issued in this Series and depicts the National Coat of Arms of the Netherlands with the Royal Crown flanked by the date and inscription "CONCORDIA RES PARVAE CRESCUNT" (meaning "Unity makes Strength").
The caduceus mint mark of the Royal Dutch Mint and the privy mark of the mint-master also feature on this face.
On the Reverse the Silver Ducat Collector Coin, depicts an armoured knight Godard de Ginkell, with a shield featured in front of his left leg in front of Heeswijk Castle. His shield shows the Province weapon of North-Brabant.
About Godard de Ginkell or Godard van Reede (1644-1703) A Brief:
Godard van Reede (1644-1703), in the United Kingdom better known as Godard de Ginkell, is a recurring character in "Dutch Castles", who also served as Governor of Utrecht..
In 1688, he accompanied William, Prince of Orange, in his expedition to England, where he claimed the throne of England, Scotland and Ireland.
In 1691, Ginkell started a campaign against the remaining allies of King James II.
On 03.10.1691, a victory was won, after which he, as a formal thanks, was naturalised asan English subject. Ginkell returned to the Netherlands, thereafter.
After if return in 1693, he became Commander of the Army of Flanders.
In 1702, he became the first Field Marshal of the Dutch States Army.
The inscriptions on this face are - "MO. NO. ARG. REG. BELGII BRAB. SEP" is inscribed on the left & right peripheries. In Latin the inscription reads in its full form - "Moneta Nova Argenta Regni Belgii" (meaning "New Silver Coin of the Kingdom of the Netherlands"). "BRAB.SEP" (means the Province of "North-Brabant").
