"SMILEY" is now 50 Years old (1972-2022):

In 2022, Smiley celebrates five decades of smiles and optimism.

The emblematic yellow and round figure was born on January 01.01.1972 in France.

Journalist Franklin Loufrani used this communicative smile in the newspaper France-Soir to highlight stories that raised the morale of the French. This feature, called "Take the time to smile", became an immediate success.

In 1996, the logo was relaunched and brought out in other forms (3D version) and new expressions were added.

 From the smiley to the emoticon, the smile is now available in all its forms. The icon exppresses itself in various ways and has since become "an ambassador of good humor."

The Coin:

On the Reverse of the 10 Euro Silver Coin, is depicted the emblematic smiley - round, yellow, with two dots as eyes and an arc of circle to represent a smiling figure.

The smiley face is part of the "50 years of smile" mention, which celebrates the anniversary of a symbol of happiness, positivity and optimism.

On the Obverse of the 10 Euro Silver Coin is inscribed the name of the issuing country - "REPUBLIQUE FRANCAISE" ("French Republic") and the face value "10 Euro", framed by two interlocking hexagons.
