About Lands And Men:

" The Earth feeds us, let's protect it "

“We do not inherit the land from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children." This was the prophetic vision of the writer and airmail pioneer Antoine de Saint-Exupéry.

With the second edition of this philatelic series, La Poste has shown its societal commitment with a view to make citizens aware of respect for the Earth that nourishes us.

What if we take the upward winds of a virtuous spiral? “I produce better, I sell locally, I consume better and I am doing well".

With the development of sustainable agriculture, short supply chains and the circular economy, there is emerging better consumption for better living, resulting in a good healthy being.

To protect our planet and feed its population, recourse to sustainable agriculture is essential.

This involves respecting the land by limiting the use of inputs such as energy, fertilizers, materials.

There is an urgent need to focus and honour the women and men who devote themselves to Agriculture, and for offering them marketing outlets for their produce and quality food grains/items for consumers.

Respecting the Earth also means reducing food waste and managing our bio-waste in a reasoned manner, which often turns out to be new resources.

The resale at affordable prices or the transformation of the products of the land open up new perspectives with social dimensions underestimated until now.

Rethinking how to feed humanity while protecting our planet is an ambitious idea because it confronts us with the questioning of an agro-industrial model that has dominated for almost 80 years.

But it is also an encouraging prospect, in that, it promises us a future where we will live better, in harmony with a better preserved nature.

"For trees and plants to flourish, for the animals that feed on them to prosper, for people to live, the earth must be honoured." - Pierre Rabhi

By respecting and honoring this Earth that nourishes us, it is the women and men who till it that we respect and honour.
