About the Loch Ness Monster ("Nessie"):
The Loch Ness Monster, or "Nessie" (Scottish Gaelic: "Uilebheist Loch Nis"), is a creature in Scottish folklore that is said to inhabit Loch Ness in the Scottish Highlands.
According to a Scottish legend dating back to the 7th century AD, the Loch Ness Monster, “Nessie,” is believed to live in the Loch Ness in the Scottish Highlands.
It is often described as large, long-necked, and with one or more humps protruding from the water.
Evidence of its existence is anecdotal, with a number of disputed photographs and sonar readings.
The scientific community regards the Loch Ness Monster as a phenomenon without biological basis, explaining sightings as hoaxes, wishful thinking, and the misidentification of mundane objects.
The pseudoscience and subculture of cryptozoology has placed particular emphasis on the creature.
Though only debatable photos and sonar readings exist, the lore of this prehistoric beast is undeniable.
For modern students of Cryptozoology, the first recorded sightings of the Loch Ness Monster date back to the 1870s.
That is when the first report of something “wriggling and churning up the water” in Loch Ness was made. That report, however, didn’t get widespread publicity until the 1930s.
In August 1933, the Courier published the account of George Spicer's alleged sighting.
Public interest skyrocketed, with countless letters being sent in detailing different sightings describing a "monster fish," "sea serpent," or "dragon," with the final name ultimately settling on "Loch Ness monster."
It didn’t take long after that for all varieties of reporters, scientists and curious onlookers to descend on the lake located in the Scottish Highlands to catch a glimpse of the “monster.”
Since the 1940s, the creature has been called "Nessie" (Scottish Gaelic: Niseag).
The Loch Ness Monster is today one of the world’s most famous of all paranormal creatures.
With little more to go on than anecdotal evidence, a few disputed photographs, and some garbled sonar readings, believers are undeterred by traditional science in their adherence to belief that some kind of prehistoric animal inhabits Loch Ness.
The Coin/Round:
The Coin/Round depicts what many Cryptozoologists believe is a prehistoric dinosaur that has somehow survived to the present day.
Purported to be a plesiosaur, “Nessie” has been described as being a large marine reptile with limbs shaped like flippers, a very long neck and a relatively small head.
It is an epic image of the Loch Ness Monster, a creature that was first reported more than 1,450 years ago in the memoirs of Saint Columba, the Irish monk who brought Christianity among the people of Scotland, although he did not see it personally, and his recording was based on Irish folklore.
On the Obverse of this Silver Coin/Round is depicted the Intaglio Mint logo superimposed over a radial burst, the medal’s weight and purity, and the 2021 year date in Roman Numerals: “MMXXI.”
