3985) Yggdrasil - Mythical Forest, Mint of Gdansk, Poland: 5 Marks Yggdrasil – Mythical Forest (Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter) and the classic BU version , each made of 1 ounce of pure silver (Ag 999): Scheduled date of Coins issue: 04.08.2025:
Yggdrasil (from Old Norse Yggdrasill) is an immense and central sacred tree in Norse cosmology. Around it exists all else, including the Nine Worlds.
Yggdrasil is attested in the Poetic Edda compiled in the 13th century from earlier traditional sources, and in the Prose Edda compiled in the 13th century by Snorri Sturluson.
In both sources, Yggdrasil is an immense ash tree that is central to the cosmos and considered very holy. The gods go to Yggdrasil daily to assemble at their traditional governing assemblies.
The branches of Yggdrasil extend far into the heavens, and the tree is supported by three roots that extend far away into other locations; one to the well “Urðarbrunnr” in the heavens, one to the spring “Hvergelmir”, and another to the well “Mímisbrunnr”. Creatures live within Yggdrasil, including the dragon “Níðhöggr”, the squirrel “Ratatoskr”, the hawk “Veðrfölnir”, and the stags “Dáinn”, “Dvalinn”, “Duneyrr” and “Duraþrór”.
Scholars generally consider "Hoddmímis holt", "Mímameiðr", and "Læraðr" to be other names for the tree.
The tree is an example of sacred trees and groves in Germanic mythology.

5 Mark Yggdrasil - Mythical Forest BU, 1 oz Ag 999
Yggdrasil, the mythical Tree of Life, connects all parts of the universe.
This mighty ash tree, whose branches reach the heavens and roots stretch across nine worlds – from the realm of the gods to the land of the dead – symbolizes life, rebirth, the interconnectedness of all beings, and cosmic order.
Mythical creatures dwell within its branches, such as the serpent Nidhogg, who gnaws at its roots, and the squirrel Ratatoskr, who carries messages between its worlds. Yggdrasil even survived Ragnarök, offering refuge to two humans who would become the beginning of a renewed mankind.
