About Scylla and Charybdis:

Scylla and Charybdis were mythical sea monsters first mentioned by the Greek historian Homer.

Greek mythology cited them on opposite sides of the straits of Messina between Sicily and Calabria, on the Italian mainland.

Scylla was rationalised, in reality, as a rock shoal (described as a six-headed sea monster) on the Calabrian side of the strait and Charybdis was a whirlpool off the coast of Sicily.

They were regarded as maritime hazards located close enough to each other that they posed an inescapable threat to passing sailors - avoiding Charybdis meant passing too close to Scylla and vice versa.

According to Homer's account, Odysseus was advised to pass by Scylla and lose only a few sailors, rather than risk the loss of his entire ship.

This stunning 3 Ounce  Silver Coin is the second issue in the Coin Series titled -"Evil Within" and is dedicated to Scylla and Charybdis -the two monsters of Greek mythology.

The Reverse of the $20 Silver Antique Finish Coin depicts the image of a ship navigating between Scylla and Charybdis. The Sea Monsters cover the design by passing from the Reverse to the Obverse of the Coin. 

The Obverse of the $20 Silver Antique Finish Coin depicts the theme of the Coin - "SCYLLA AND CHARYBDIS" (on the upper periphery) and the name of the issuing country - "REPUBLIC OF PALAU" (below the theme inscription) together with the Emblem/Coat of Arms of the Republic of Palau.

Below the Coat of Arms is the denomination/face value of the coin - "20$" and the year of issue - "2020" (on the lower periphery)
