Numiscollect, on behalf of the Government of Palau, has started a new coin series titled "Dot Art".
The new coin series includes designs composed out of dot art and pointillism, an art technique made popular by the 1800s painters - George Seurat and Paul Signac, who developed the technique in 1886, branching from Impressionism.
Pointillism/DOT Art is a technique of painting in which small, distinct dots of colour are applied in patterns to form an image.
The term "Pointillism" was coined by art critics in the late 1880s to ridicule the works of these artists, but is now used without its earlier mocking connotation.
The Movement Seurat began with this technique is known as "Neo-impressionism. The Divisionists used a similar technique of patterns to form images, though with larger cube-like brushstrokes.
The first coin in this series is the "Tree of Life".
The Banner/Header shows the Reverse of the 20 dollars partially coloured Silver Coin against an extended background similarly coloured as the Reverse design
The Reverse of the 20 Dollars Proof Coin features an artistic depiction of the "Tree of Life".
The Obverse of the 20 Dollars Proof Coin features the Palau Coat of Arms.
The inscriptions are - "2020", "REPUBLIC OF PALAU", Dot Art" and 20 Dollars".
