" JAMES BOND Q BRANCH -  Although James Bond is the consummate secret agent, able to negotiate the perils and pitfalls of any mission anywhere in the world, there are moments when he needs a little extra help, and that help is often provided by Q Branch, the research and development division of MI6. Headed by Q (the Quartermaster), Q Branh designs, makes and tests gadgets and vehicles for every eventuality. If Bond is trapped, he can cut his way out with a laser hidden in his wristwatch. If Bond is pursuing villains, he can track them with a homing device or chase them in an invisible car. Q Branch is Bond's secret weapon."

BU Coin Cover - Inner - The description reads -

"INSIDE Q BRANCH - Q Branch has been an almost-constant presence in the Bond movies. In Dr No, Major Boothroyd of Q Branch issued James Bond with a new gun, the Walther PPK, which became synonymous with the superspy. We first meet Q in From Russia With Love when he demonstrates the gadget-laden attache case, and in Goldfinger we see the interior of Q Branch as the scientists test various devices. From a rocket launcher in a leg cast to bagpipes doubling as a flamethrower, Bond never knows what surprises Q Branch might throw at him. With the rise of computer technology, Q became an expert at cybersecurity and Q Branch's devices became more sophisticated - a gun coded to Bond's palm print and nano-technology that can track Bond anywhere in the world. One thing is certain - Q Branch always remains one step ahead of everybody else."

Some gadgets devised by Q Branch are pictured and described on this page, include - Attache case, Homing beacon, Bug sweeper, Ski pole gun, Grappling gun, Laser wristwatch, the Q boat, Mobile tracker.

Sean Connery was filmed taking off without a helmet, but the close-up was reshot when it was realised that pilot Bill Suitor needed to perform the stunt with a helmet.

Little Nellie: Q personally delivers Little Nellie in four alligator-leather trunks to Bond in Japan and then assembles the armed and manoeuvrable autogyro. While Bond is airborne searching for a secret SPECTRE base, four helicopters attack him, but Little Nellie's machine guns, flamethrowers, aerial mines and rocket launchers defeat them in a thrilling encounter.

Lotus Esprit Submarine: While investigating the nefarious Karl Stromberg, Q Branch issues Bond with a Lotus Esprit S1. The car proves adept at evading a missile and spraying cement on a pursuit vehicle, befor diving into the sea and converting into a submersible. This accompanying  Information Brochure/Card introduces us to "THE WORLD OF JAMES BOND" and reveals the stories behind "oo7's" relationships with key allies and villains -

"James Bond is the main character in the longest running film-franchise of all time, spanning more than 50 years. His relationship with key characters provide the movies with added depth, danger, glamour and excitement.

BOND AND MONEYPENNY: Lois Maxwell  was the first to bring the character of Moneypenny to life, starring in the first 14 films. Caroline Bliss followed in two films, while Samantha Bond featured in four. Only when Naomie Harris reprised the role in Skyfall and Spectre did audiences learn that Moneypenny's first name was Eve.

BOND AND M: Secret Service chief M has appeared in every Bond film except For Your Eyes Only. The M played by Bernard Lee, Robert Brown and Judi Dench each forged a slightly different relationship with 007, though each despaired of his lifestyle while respecting his abilities. The current chief Mallory, is played by Ralph Fiennes.

BOND AND Q BRANCH: Bond's relationship with Q, aka the Quartermaster, has proved pivotal to his success. Actor Peter Burton first brought the character to life before Desmond Llewelyn made the part his own, starring in 17 films. John Cleese held the title Q in one movie, while Ben Whishaw reprised the role in Skyfall.

BOND AND HIS ALLIES: From CIA man Felix Leiter to Sheriff JW Pepper, 007 has enjoyed fruitful working relationships with a whole host of associates. This is dangerous territory, however, and for many of his accomplices, whether male or female, an adventure with Bond often proves the kiss of death.

BOND AND VILLAINS: From 007's greatest nemesis, SPECTRE founder Ernst Stavro Blofeld, through the like of Auric Goldfinger, Francisco Scaramanga, Max Zorin and Le Chiffre, the Bond villains loom over the franchise like titans, constituting some of the most memorable movie characters of all time.

BOND AND HENCHMEN: Even more outlandish than their bosses, and often even more unbalanced, the evil henchmen and women are a truly memorable bunch. With their unique killing techniques - such as lethal headgear, deadly shoes, mechanical arms or teeth with a real bite - they always prove dangerous adversaries.
