Germania Mint has continued its series of cast bars dedicated to the pantheon of Germanic goddesses with the sixth release in the series that features Nerthus, the Norse goddess of agriculture, fertility, abundance, and prosperity in all her enthralling beauty.
The Norse Goddess Of Prosperity And Peace: Mother Earth For The Northern People
The Germanic gods may not be as well-known as the immortal beings of Greek mythology, but their tales are every bit as exciting and jam-packed with life lessons that everyone can appreciate.
Nerthus’ name is believed to be the feminised equivalent of the Old Norse word “Njord,” the name of a Norse sea god.
The name derives from the word “north” meaning “deity of the northern people.”
In all instances, however, she is known as “Mother Earth.”
A fertility goddess, Nerthus was also worshiped as the protector of crops and the cycles of life., ensuring abundant harvest and peace among her followers.
It was believed that when she appeared among her people, all conflicts ceased, and the lands yielded plentifully. Nerthus travels to her followers in a veiled chariot drawn by cows and her symbols are fire, chariots, and soil.
A Silver Cast Bar:
The alluring selectively colourised design shows Nerthus as a youthful beauty with piercing blue eyes and lovely blue lips that match the flower in her hair and the jewellery adorning her forehead and throat.
The splash of colour literally pops off the bar thanks to its unique antique finish that adds incredible depth and dimension to the already impressive design.
