ReplyDelete"As CC functionary and as controller of Madame Cama Road Br., my curiosity was piqued about Madame Cama but I never got around to finding about her .Thanks for filling in about her."
As a matter of fact, I did read the plaque under her statue when we were commuting from Churchgate stn. to Corporate Centre. I do remember that she had raised some sort of an indian Flag in an International forum. While putting up this post I found out the exact nature of her symbolic act, which exiled her from India during her lifetime. She even requested Sir Cowasji Jehangir of Pune, an eminent person of immense clout with the British authorities, but she had to stay out of India till she passed away, such were the British Raj Govt "scared" of her.
DeleteDetails of two books published o f reformer&poet savitry bai bhule is wrongly mention as kavya phuleis 1934 correct is 1854& bamankashi subodh ratnaker mentioned as 1982,but correct is 1892,incase of savitri bai phuley, pioneer of girls' education in india
ReplyDeleteThank you. I have changed both the dates as mentioned by you. Apparently, there was a typographical oversight in the description given on the Post Card on Savitribai Phule.
