666) Manta Ray: Depicted on Titanium 2 Pounds Crown Coin, minted by Pobjoy Mint, UK, on behalf of the Government & Treasury of the British Indian Ocean Territory (BIOT):

About Manta Rays:

Manta Rays are found adjacent to tropical regions in warm or temperate waters and are large Rays with triangular pectoral fins, horn-shaped cephalic fins and gaping forward-facing mouths. They are pelagic filter feeders that consume large quantities of Zooplankton which they collect by swimming mouth-open through the water.

Manta Rays are gentle giants that, despite their huge size (up to 7.0 metres across) pose no risk to humans. This is in contradiction to Sting Rays which can deliver a nasty sting. The Manta Ray is an incredibly majestic creature for its immense size and graceful nature.

Humans in fact are the greatest risk to the Rays and they are now considered vulnerable due to overfishing. They often get tangled in nets as they are unable to swim backwards. Once entangled, they drown due to their constant requirement of flushing oxygen rich water over their gills.

The Titanium and Cupro-nickel two Pounds coins issued by Pobjoy Mint, UK:

This coin has been issued by the Pobjoy Mint, UK on behalf of the Treasury & Government of the British Indian Ocean Territory (BIOT) in dark-blue tinted Titanium (Brilliant Uncirculated - BU) and Cupro-Nickel.

As Titanium reacts differently to every strike, a lined effect is present on the coins (which is unique to this metal), making each of these coins technically different with a slight variation in colour.
